LOL Yeah, it is pretty good as I do the same journey each day to work and know the mileage is pretty right based on my other cars I have done it in over the years ;)
Mine did exactly the same mate, checked speed sensor, all seemed ok but still not working reliably , so changed it for a new one and now works perfectly!
Dephaser pulleys are quite pricey and need the belt changing when they are done so hopefully it isn't that mate. Have a search on YouTube as there are loads of vids of noisy dephasers so you can have a listen and see if similar to your problem mate.
Sounds like bushes or joints to me, getting it up on a ramp and applying some pressure with a bar to various parts of the suspension should show up where the excess play is and nail the culprit mate.
You sure the dodgy noise near the filler cap isn't the dephaser pulley? They sound pretty bad when going!
Drain the excess oil should be fine mate.
The steering/handling issue sounds like a ball joint has gone to me? Your mechanic friend should be able to track that down for you.............
DVLA can take some time before updating their register so it is possible it was taxed before the register was updated, it is also possible they have made a msiatke about the requirement of a VIC check, they have made many mistakes in the past!!
It could also be a mistake with the DVLA records, come across that plenty of times during my trading days!! Hope you get it sorted one way or another mate..........
I guess anyone having a really 'good' unique mod would be wise not sharing or it soon won't be unique :p
I bet anyone with a completely standard OEM motor would also not be too far from unique these days?
Good luck mate, hope it is worth the journey and you get a decent deal and motor out of it
Just ignore all the internet wannabe Simon Cowells who seem to think it is now cool to be rude
I don't see any issue at all asking previous owner about it, it is a good indication of what it was like. I have spoken to loads of people about my past cars and had no issue with it at all.
I wouldn't let number of owners put you off either, I was in the trade for a number of years and some of...
I kinda know what you mean, with an STi and tuned 330D on the drive, it is still the Clio I keep taking out although it is a 172 but still so much fun and cheap to run (fuel-wise anyway LOL)
Aux belt snapping wouldn't put the timing out as long as it didn't take out the cambelt at same time so that shouldn't be an issue and the owner was just lucky. If the car is sound and worth the asking, I wouldn't let the springs alone put me off as they can be changed for not much money...
Hi mate sounds like a reasonable deal to me. I think the radio issue sounds like you have lost the permenent live, check the fuses mate, there are 2 for the radio, one permanent live and the other for ignition live. The steering wheel issue is pretty common, there are few people on here retrim...
The reset button only resets trip figures (trip mileage/time/distance/average speed/fuel economy etc) it doesn't reset the distance to empty value. I have heard a similar wierd thing and it corrected itself when a decent amount of fuel was added into the tank.
3 of my mates from work have had cars scratched during the last couple of weeks, there are some really careless arseh0les about that don't care about other people's property
