Yet another side project/rabbit hole, although this one was reasonably quick from start to finish, the PCB is being made in china as we speak, so I'm currently using the incredibly hacked together prototype that consists on components on strip board with capacitors and other stuff tacked to legs...
I have pretty bad insomnia, so I try to do something productive when it's at its worst.
back in the 8/16-bit days I wrote quite a few games, the last one I wrote was a r-type style game that I did with a friend which was written in assembler and ran under DOS (I had a 386 at the time, probably...
Just something I found while looking for a solution.
I have a lot of both mechanical parts (screws, threaded inserts, nuts, bolts, standoffs, etc, you get the picture) and electronic components. Nuts and bolts are actually f**king expensive, ridiculously so, and the number of times I've bought...
I've been working on a project since the first lockdown, it keeps me occupied and my mind off pain in the early hours of the morning.
It's an open-source cross-platform traceroute/ping analysis tool, it's still far from complete, but it's usable and I've created binaries for macOS, Linux and...
Thought rather than spam the main hue thread, I'd start one for this.
Following on from my last post where I'd misplaced my traco dc-dc convertors, I did indeed have a board I designed with one on, so out came the hot air gun and off came the convertor.
I can now stick everything onto the...
I’m too tight to pay for pingplotter, so I am writing my own version. It’s open source (GPLv3) and I’m doing some of the housekeeping activities at the moment, part of which is creating installers.
I had to release the source code early to get a free license of VMware InstallBuilder (they...
Anybody else get one? I've been using my 10.5 Pro a lot, not just as a tablet, but as an extra display for my Mac.
I have the new 12.9 inch pro arriving tomorrow, but annoying that the previous gen pencil doesn’t work with it as I had to buy the new one as well, use the pencil a lot in...
Hey,
I’m after a rack mount system for some raspberry pi’s, I found this on thingiverse.....
...only issue, I don’t have a 3D printer.
Anybody out there with one who roughly how much it would cost to print me a set?
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1606631
Cheers.
Anybody else into electronics? I've been involved in electronics for 20+ years commercially, designing embedded systems.
Got bored at home the other week so decided to see how far open source design software had come, so knocked up a small design (wifi and i2c breakout) and had the PCB's made...
Here's a doozy.
If you have time machine set to back-up and one of the files it backs up happens to be on a drive with a physical failure (i.e trying to copy the file in finder results in a disk error and a copy fail error) then time machine rather helpfully doesn't copy the file and doesn't...
There's probably a thread buried miles deep that's ancient.....so...a new one.
What are your "go to" android apps, ones you cannot live without.
I'm not talking about apps like tapatalk, but more like apps that enhance the whole android experience.
Just wondering if there's another amazing...
Does anybody have a picture (or take for me) of the mount on a Ph2 172?
My car didn't move for most of last month due to me being away with work and during this time some scrote has stolen the silver 2.0 badges from the doors and also attempted to steal the "sport" from the back, but once...
It happened again....
This time a vital machine at work went down - this happened a couple of years ago with another machine, so I built a backup system using rsync that created daily backups of important data. Both ends of the backup system would email if there was a problem i.e client was...
Bit of an oddball question this one and I figured somebody here might be able to help.
Basically, I have a piece of software which I have written which is being used by councils. All these councils seem to have some sort of microsoft proxy system which uses NTLM (v2) to authenticate the users...
I've just done a small website to promote some of our products, I'm not a web designer (I'm a software engineer) so don't really know the tricks of how to optimise the content for search engines.
Has anybody got any recommendations on methods of SEO? Do these companies that offer SEO (probably...
I think there's somebody here who works for vodafone who might be able to help.
Basically, we develop embedded devices of which some use a phone module to allow the equipment to be contacted by text message or over the internet.
Vodafone have started supplying SIM's that don't work with our...
I've searched and found a few people who've had this problem, but none seem to be exactly the issue I'm experiencing.
If I'm driving the car and dip the clutch to slow, the revs will go up to 2K and stick there until I've come to a complete standstill at which point they drop down to normal...
Words fail me.
http://www.malcolmsteward.co.uk/?p=2479
Especially given he's a journalist and "technology writer".
Though I do like the fact he's closed comments and deleted them with the following explanation:
Hi,
Just a quick reminder to everybody to ensure they've got backups of any important data.
Yesterday, after compiling some code and nipping out of the office, I came back to my old PC which simply had the words "disk error" displayed on the screen. Trying to reboot I could hear that the...
Seriously, what's the point in MS not allowing this to be completely disabled should you want to? (i.e kiosk style applications)
They can still keep up the thin veneer of "security" by keeping ctrl+alt+del un-hookable in user mode.
I had to resort to writing a driver to filter out the SAS...
Been searching and haven't found anything on here specifically for the 172 window, but does anybody on here have a dart tag on a 172 and where did they fix it to the window?
The idea place would be behind the rearview mirror, but there is not a "window" in the reflective coating, it's down...
My 172 (Ph2) seems to be developing a fault, one of the relays is clicking every so often, if I go around a left hand bend then it goes mental, if I go over a bump then the relay clicks too and will cause all the dash lights to go off for a fraction of a second.
Could be a dodgy fuse, but...
