Picked up a Megane Sport 175dci the other week as a second car, love it, but the TPMS sensors have been removed from the wheels but not disabled in the software. So wonder if anyone fancy s earning them selves some easy money disabling it via a CLIP device.
Or if anyone knows any garages around...
I picked up a second hand SS K-Tec sports cat off eBay, it was from the Ph1 so I had to weld a 2nd Lambda boss on. Picked it up for £100, bargain if you ask me, sailed through the MOT test as well. Slight increase in exhaust noise, couldn't say I felt the difference directly.
You could/can run the standard D4F ECU, utilise the D4FT MAP sensor and get someone with experience in mapping the ECU to remap it. A F4R conversion would be better, but potentially a lot more work with replacing wiring looms etc. Up to you really, I wanted to do it, to do something different...
I started the thread before. Engine mountings are the same, clutches are the same size and spline count. Gearbox is the only thing which may need modifying to fit, not researched this fully, but if you have the ability you can make anything fit with an adapter plate etc.
172 Cup, only run on Optimax/Ultimate, get about 34mpg combined, sat at 70mph dead on long motorway runs will do 45mpg. Essex to Liverpool run average 42-43mpg normally.
Probably should have considered the Physics a bit more considering I'm a student Engineer and all. Had only considered mechanical grip with extra weight being proportional to mechanical grip, whoops.
Running her on Summer tyres isn't the best choice either really, any opinions on Winter Tyres...
Haha, 35mph on that corner is in no way fast, your a fool. In fact I was driving to the road conditions having reduced the speed I would typically take that corner at, having gone around that corner dozens of times within the last 4 years its not exactly new or unfamilar.
"Chav", you have to be...
Driving through Liverpool City Centre on Sunday night and at about 35-40mph she oversteered mid bend. Not even like the rear was light at the time, had the spare gearbox and a lot of tools in the boot. Certainly is twitchy at the rear.
Video for you to enjoy.
Ended up settling for the carbon fibre ones from streamline anyhow, only reason i was put off was because I don't have the heart to spray over carbon fibre, and think it would look terrible in CF. Shall see how it looks, then maybe get them colour matched.
Hello
After trying to source the blanks for a few months iv had no luck. Called up Renault lookers of Chelmsford and got them down to £83.21 a set, anyone want the drivers side one, as I only require the passengers side?
Would only charge you £35 posted. Would be in my possession tomorrow and...
Cambelt, aux belt and dephaser pulley done. When changing the cambelt it didn't look that old, certainly not original, also found some tippex marks on exh pulley and crank pulley. I did find the cams werent in time (flat together), so iv adjusted this now using tools. Engines running fine. While...
Fabia vrs splitter fitted, full service with engine flush, new centre exhaust mount fitted, Powerflex dogbone fitted.
When doing the splitter iv found that the off side fog light bulb holder is broken, and that the bumper has been repaired from behind.
Hence going to look into a replacement...
Got some bits done to her today:
- replacement aerial base and aerial - other one was destroyed, held on with a jubile clip from underneath
- changed the cone air filter to an enclosed carbon fibre one, ducted down to the front bottom grill.
- carbon wrapped some interior trim parts which were...
Didn't realise there was anyone that local doing it that cheap, and properly. Oh well you learn from your mistakes!
I can't seem to find a good video, got a link? It's idling fairly rough, taco moving a bit, so I'd say that's more than normal personally. Iv got all new plugs and full service to...
Yeah the fabia vrs is certainly the one I'm going to go for now, shall order tomorrow.
Well £609 was only cambelt change, add in the aux kit and dephaser and god of knows how much Renalt would want, obviously I could have gone to a specialist external of Renault, but there seems to be a lot of...
Ordered the third tool now, £50 for the second camshaft locking tool. Still need to call up Renault about the special socket for undoing the dephaser bolt though.
Renault want £67 + £7.13 for the tools.
I'm considering buying the Laser ones and strengthening the plate, only because the thread I read did say that the Laser ones bent when changing the dephaser pulley.
Iv messaged Yanno, see what he says about these kits.
Yeah Iv read the guide online, and realised its no straight forward task. Iv found the camshaft locking tool and tdc pin (Sealey:( ) for £44. Trying to give Renault a call now for their prices.
I popped into the Seat dealer, yeah...... £44.75 for the Cupra R splitter, any ideas why the price...
Re: Finally got a Clio sport, iv been missing out!
Should have noted I do all the work myself, therefore the above prices are a little lout. I do agree looking back now I should have got a few hundred off with no service history.
The prices I'm doing it for, parts already ordered:
Sevice - £50...
After years of wasting money on the Clio 1.2 16v and then rolling her over last December, and an interesting Astra Mk4 2.0 Sri in between, Iv finally become a man and bought a Clio 172 Cup in Mondial blue, 53 plate, 66k miles. I think I got a bargin, she's idling rough and the seller had tried...
The mounts are exactly the same. Engine space shouldn't be problem either. Insurance would be a non standard engine.
Iv got the engine for sale if you fancy completing the conversion?
After me crashing and rolling the car last week this is now off the books sadly. After collecting 90% of the parts together I'm wondering if anyone from this thread is interested in buying all of the parts and trying to complete the engine swap themselves. I can provide a lot of free knowledge...
Get the standard mount and use two stainless steel cable ties around it to stop it sagging and deforming the rubber too much. Works a treat and will *probably* never break again.
Hey
Still an ongoing project. Sadly the engine turned up pretty damaged! Sump was cracked with a big hole in. Oil return pipe from the turbo was bent and split. Got these on order with Renault now though, Insurance from the Courier service is being a real pain as well.
Iv also got all the...
Engine finally ordered. Got myself a bargain and *apparently* a low mileage one, all ancillaries and wiring loom. Should be here next week.
Still got a long way to go. Bits to consider are: engine mounts, gearbox coupling, engine electronics and wiring and exhaust down pipe.
Most of them...
