No, the main and most notable difference/issue is the difference in throttle control (cable on ph1 and electric on ph2. That said though, it's possible to put the ph2 motor in, but you will face a slight difference with the looms!
OK, it does sound more like an immobiliser problem than anything else, there's a few ways to reset the ECU to try and get it to sort the immobiliser out, one method I know of is to turn the key to position two and disconnect the battery for a few minutes.
Great pics, it's an amazing weekend - I went last year and met Ken Block/Kris Meeke etc. Really wanted to go this year but it couldn't happen. It's on the calendar for next year!
Interesting one. My parts database says it is indeed a 2005 172 Cup registered on 10/10/05 as it says on the eBay listing. A late registration perhaps, it does happen, the low-ish mileage would also back this up.
Fair one! Well like I say it's not your usual Turinis/Speedlines alot of Clios have fitted, so even on an RT they'd look alright (if they fit?!)
EDIT: Just make sure it doesn't look like this :P
Interesting one! I think all Turinis have 11 spokes, you're right, as pictured:
Are yours a 16" rim? I have a feeling they could be another brand, not Speedline, with an aftermarket Renault centrecap? I'm sure they're not V6 wheels, as these have 16 spokes and are a 17" rim IIRC!
Yeah no worries! Auto testing is good fun. I saw someone participating in a MKII 1.2 16V Clio at the weekend and I was curious as to how it would handle. The driver was from Ireland (the Irish seem to be really good at autotests!) He could literally make the car dance! I asked if it was running...
Fitting a steering rack from a 1.2 model would not improve turning circle on a 172. They're basically the same as they're for the same chassis for the same width of car etc. I work on autotest cars sometimes (similar to autotest cars) and they're generally fitted with aftermarket steering racks...
