Yes because no-one who has had a gearbox issue knows how to heel and toe.....? dear me. Stop trying to make yourself sound superior...there is the possibility that a failure can be due to a fault, as evidenced by the fact that they've since changed the synchromesh on newer boxes...
My crunch...
lol implying that it's the driver at fault - this just isn't true. I've had 5 cars and never had a single gearbox problem. I had my 197 for a 11k miles when the 4th syncro died...it is a definite problem with the boxes. I also know someone who had their's swapped out at 9k miles and then had to...
Yep it's still there if I:
- Coast in gear
- Coast in neutral
- Coast with clutch pedal depressed
Vibration gets less as you slow down however is still noticeable.
I've got a vibration problem that's getting gradually worse - It basically feels like I'm driving with square wheels (they're not bent at all).
I can feel vibration through the whole car - steering, seat and pedals at pretty much all speeds however it gets worse at higher speeds. At motorway...
Cheers for all the replies guys.
I'm 6' 2" and spend a fair bit of time in the gym so the recaro's are just too snug a fit for me and as such just don't find them as comfortable. My standard seats aren't quite as snug. I realise it might affect resale value but at the end of the day if they...
If you click on the RS Clio it redirects you to the RenaultSport site where it does have some prices - i.e. list price of the car and cost of extras, but it doesn't appear to state how much a particular colour would cost. Like I said above ^^ I presume it'll just be metallic paint so would be...
Really? Didn't know this. It'd help if they'd put the colour options on the website!
EDIT: Still have black in the online brochure - just spotted the link after delving a little deeper. Or is this out of date now? I presume it would just be classed as the "metallic paint" option?
Ha! Call me boring but I'm really not that bothered about recaros at all for some reason. The standard seats in my 197 are pretty good to be fair. I'd be using it as a daily runner and when I've sat in them both in the 197, I thought the standard seats were more comfy.
I'm not too bothered...
General question and looking for some buyer experiences.
I'm liking the sound of the 4 years warranty, servicing and 0% HP on a new 200 (standard not cup) but just wondered how much It would set me back?
You used to be able to spec them up online but that functionality seems to have gone...
Hi guys,
Got a small niggle with my 197 in that the clutch pedal is really quite stiff - makes your leg ache sometimes in traffic! Clutch operation itself is fine; no slipping and all gears engage fine - gear changes are a bit stiff and crunchy from cold but fine once warmed for a few minutes...
Well....(clears throat)
Gearboxes made of cheese
Steering wheel material has a tendancy to melt/peel away (it's not real leather)
The OEM top stabilser bar is atrocious - it will knock from cold if it's bad.
Caliper pins and pads have a tendancy to seize in.
A mysterious knock when dropping off...
Had the wheels swapped front to back but to no avail unfortunately.
Latest symptom is the car pulls to the right under acceleration. Only just noticed as with it wobbling I've been paying more attention to that - today I took my hands off the wheel (only briefly) whilst coasting and the...
Not sure why people are so bothered about having Recaro's to be honest - the standard seats in the 197 are top notch imo.
Check for gearbox wear, 4th syncro went on mine - try shifting into 2nd, 3rd and 4th at varying revs to check.
Steering wheels are made of butter and have a tendancy to melt...
Need some thoughts,
Having an issue with Vibration through the steering wheel. I can feel minor vibration when driving normally however when I get the car up to about 60-65mph the steering wheel starts to wobble. The wobble may go away at about 80-85mph ;), however I can still feel some...
Hi guys,
Couple of questions:
Seem to have developed a slight knock through the steering - when stationary and you turn the wheel through centre you can feel the knock through the floor and the wheel - it's also audible. If you hold the joint behind the brake pedal you can feel the knock...
Which on a Renault it's highly likely to malfunction... in fact I think that is the only way Renault could make it any worse - a slow painful death (oh wait that's what I feel is happening every time I enter a Renault Dealership) ;-)
Hope you get a decent pay out from the insurance!
Having some issue with the 197 - I'll start from the beginning:
The first "symptom" was a clonk experienced when lifting off the accelerator when the car is cold. e.g - lift off depress to change and then clonk - sounds like its from the front end. This goes away when the car warms up.
Started...
Pro's:
Best handling hatch for the money
Awesome brakes
decent kit for the money - a/c, cruise control etc.
relatively cheap to insure (when compared with similar performance cars)
Bombproof engine
relatively cheap servicing (again when compared to similar competitors)
brilliant on the track -...
Well to be fair it would be pretty difficult for them to take it - they'd have to break in and get around the immobiliser whilst the alarm was going off and then they'd have to somehow get past two big iron gates that are only opened with access fob...
I may invest in a steering wheel lock...
Pick a car you like and stop buying one every 6 months lol ;)
In all seriousness people can't really make a realistic suggestion unless you give an idea of budget. If you can afford an r26.R then you can also afford a 225 or a 197...why aren't they on the list?
I sat up for while last night lol - all was fine this morning.
I don't think it would be soemone who lives in the building - it's not cheap to live here and it's a pretty nice area. You never know though I suppose. There's a travelling fair about 1/4 mile up the road just picthed up this week...
