    Uniroyal Rainsport 3

I've tried 2s on a Trophy and 3s on my Integra and have generally been an advocate for Rainsports. However, on the Integra the unbelieveably soft sidewalls have compromised the most important element of feel for me - steering feedback. Also, I got through the fronts in 3,000 miles A/B road use...

    LY 182 - In Demand??

Every time I hear "liquid yellow" I think is liquid yellow french humour for p*ss. Think about it. Horrid colour. Sunflower's fantastic though.

    Jared's SSS

Love these. It's becoming my default recommendation for anyone wanting a small hatch that does everything. I think it's a bit like the original Golf GTI. I would probably leave the suspension (which has been commended) and the exhaust and put some lightweight 16s on and add a bit of sidewall...

    Tyre size options

The profile is based on the width i.e. a 45 profile will be 45% of 195 or 205 as the case may be. So the 205 width tyre will have a slightly taller sidewall.

    Tyre size options

Yes, the 182s have 205 45 16 as standard. It will change the rolling radius slightly though from a 195 45 16. If the Cup's standard size was 195 45 16 (which I think it may have been), it will have a very slight effect on your speedo.

    172 or 182?

I think that was a response to Alex5's post! The seats you are on about in ForceIndia's car are Recaro Speeds from an Integra Type R DC2 and have been re-upholstered. Please correct me if I am wrong @ForceIndia.

What have you done to your car today ???

Are you using the wet method? Spray the glass with soapy water, get the film in position and hairdryer dry squeezing any bubbles out?

    Hunter Alignment

I'm a fussy bugger with most things, try these guys: http://www.alineyourcar.co.uk/ They do a lot of bespoke alignment, most of the local drifting guys go here. The operators actually understand what the readings mean and the effect changes will have on handling. It was £25 to do front toe on my...

Recaro Trendlines - £1,666.66 (Guess who)

I hear what you say but it only takes one person to buy them. I wonder how much they are new (if you can still get them)? For someone with a bit of cash who didn't want the hassle of trying to find a set or didn't know the typical value, it might be a nice easy purchase.

Whats the benefits 16" to 15"

Well Team Dynamics quote 6.2kg for a 7 x 15 Pro Race 1.2. I accept there may be slight variations due to offset but it is still around 4kg lighter than an OEM 182 wheel. The OZ Superleggeras I had in 7 x 15, ET37mm with a 67.1mm centre bore were just over 5kg and the Ultras half a kilo more. As...

Whats the benefits 16" to 15"

There is no one line generic answer to this. The key issues are wheel weight (apparently every kilo saved on a wheel can be multiplied by 4 as it's both unsprung weight and rotated mass) and cheaper/greater variety of tyres. If you go for one of the superlight type wheels (OZ Superleggera...

New 15" Track wheels - Which are the best?

As per Chip's post, these won't fit. The best thing to do is to call John Harris at DT and explain that you want them for a Clio 1*2. He will take care of the PCD (4 x 100) and the centre bore (most likely by selecting Team Dynamics' larger bore, say 67.1mm, and sending you 7mm spigot rings to...

New 15" Track wheels - Which are the best?

James If you currently have a 172 Cup on Turinis (ET38), you want an offset of 38 or less, otherwise the wheel will tuck into the arches a bit more. ET35 would be ideal as you'll get 3mm more "poke".

New 15" Track wheels - Which are the best?

It is odd that. Especially as they seem to offer the black gloss in the widest range of offsets. It's not like they are getting rid of end of line stock. That said, the silver ones, even at just over £400 are pretty good.

New 15" Track wheels - Which are the best?

Well the TD (Pro Race) 1.2s will be worth more if you intend to sell them on at some point and will probably be lighter too and look better if that matters.

Hate when someone asks what car do you have?

I think people are taking the issue a bit seriously. Why do you feel the need for some appreciation of the car you drive from people not interested in cars? If I'm asked I just say, usually with great pleasure, just the marque (so "a Renault/a Honda"). If they reply with "but I thought you were...

    Wolfrace and Renault?? Urgent

You'll be fine. Motor insurance is regulated. If they get difficult about it, ask for their complaints procedure and tell them you are referring it to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) (whichever they are regulated by, they will tell you, they have to)...

    Budget tyres for 182

I take the point but it's not about cheap, it's about the tyre itself. The emphasis shouldn't be that if you spend more, you are safer etc. Uniroyal Rainsport 3s are cheap and very, very good as a balanced road tyre in the UK.

    New rims?!

That's fair enough. If you have accurate scales, the weights are what they are I suppose. It's just that I would have expected the Pro Race to be a fair bit lighter as it's marketed as a lightweight wheel. I'm pretty much torn between the two - I think they both look very motorsport.
  22. I

    New rims?!

Not that much then. That's interesting as I have data for 15 x 7 Hockenheims at 8.5 kg and the 15" Pro Race at 6.1 kg. That would be quite a difference. Also, OZ F1s have been weighed consistently at a fair bit more than 7.7 kg.
  23. I

    New rims?!

What are the respective weights of the two wheels? Are they both 15"? I would say there's probably a 2.5 - 3kg per corner weight difference, with the Pro Race being lighter. I wouldn't swap for a heavier wheel personally.

Recaro seats - I want them!

I have these in my Integra and they are a really good blend of comfort, support and looks. vecbtb, these look fantastic, did you get them retrimmed? If so, where from, that looks like a great job?!

    Trophy turini question

They should be just as per the Trophy as the Trophy was based on the Cup. I think if people want a bit more poke on the 182 with Turinis, the 172 Cup Turinis are about 8mm extra poke due to the difference in offset.

    ***How much is it worth?***

Re: Clio 182 54 Plate I'm considering buying? Approach with caution. Doing all that at no cost and he's eating up most of his margin. That'd make me question his credibility. By that I mean that he probably thinks he can send it to his "mechanic" for a couple of hours to throw on an OEM-spec...

    Looking for guidance.

Re: Looking guidance. I hope you're both well. You should report it to your insurer if you haven't. The insurers will deal with it from now and contact you if necessary. Recaro seats - I want them!

I agree. I believe they are 10mm lower and didn't think the Trendlines were that good for support. You still sit on rather than in. Obviously look a bit more serious though.

First time 182 Cup owner on high mileage says hello!

Well I won't give away my thoughts on them just yet, although it may be obvious(!). Would still be interested in your thoughts on the 182. I had a Trophy but frankly, I am not sure there is really that much in it between 1*2s for fast road use.
