Well I have heard it all now. He sold it for £3300 and guess who to.
Webuyanycar.com (are they fookin stupid lol). If any of you need a cambelt doing might be worth while checking them out lol :D
Right well went to get the car today and did not end up buying it. Service history was all small garages bar 1 with Renault out of the 3 stamps it had. Loads of receipts for Tyres and not much else. 4 mots with some real weird patterns to the mileage, I.e only 1000 odd miles done between 2006 -...
Thanks again, the insurance I had on my previous car is on hold and expires in Dec so will probably keep until after Xmas and then put it up for sale unless I fall in love with it :D
Also one quick thing is the valuation you mentioned due to the current issues, do you think the prices may rise...
Thanks Steve very helpful and I will certainly check what you mention. I know it needs a decent service as he said it was last done in 2007 at 33k miles. The pics look good with him mentioning only a small mark on the front bumper. HPI is clear, there are 2 keys and its had 2 previous owners. I...
He actually came back to me after I had decided against it and said I can have it for £2500 so I said meet me in the middle and he accepted. Looking forward to it now, miss not having a car.
Just checked out Birchwood, 185 miles away so thats a no no. Anyone used any trusted mechanics closer to...
Picking it up tomorrow. He is sending me the reg and chasis number today so I can hpi it.
Hopefully he has missed the cambelt being changed in the service history too. That would be a result LOL
If its a non fault claim you should be entitled to your premium back so long as they recover their costs from the third party. I work for an insurance company, if we delete a car as sold and has had a fault claim in the current term they get no money back, if non fault claim get a pro-rata...
Right well I told him due to the Cambelt and tax needed soon not really worth my while. Anyways he came back to me and said he really cant be assed to mess about and I can have for £2400. Again what do you think, worth it now surely ? Think I may keep it for a year or so.
Even the main dealers are just as bad, I remember we put balloons out EVERYDAY and when people came in we said it was a one day only promotion. They say never trust a salesman for a reason lol
I would never buy a car from any dealer, private all the way. Do a HPI check and pay more attention to the paperwork than the car (You cant fall in love with paperwork, in fact I look at the paperwork before I drive it), if anything sounds strange walk away.
Even looking on this site I can see cars selling for £3500 with not far off mileage, think I will leave it. Thanks for your advice though all very much appreciated.
I have worked at a similar place, they use to say "the customer does not tell us what car they want, we sell them what we have got in stock". Actually worked too, number of people who bought completely different cars. I sold a lady looking for a manual diesel car an Auto Petrol !!! Could not...
I am not sure to be honest, known him quite a while so I dont think he would intentionally try to rip me off. He said he just cant afford to run it as his daily commute is something like 40 miles each way and he wants a cheap run about, plus he is going away in a weeks time so said he would like...
Lowest priced one I can find on Autotrader with similar mileage is £4200, same colour and 48k miles. Pistonheads on the other hand they seem to vary, would say £3500 for similar car. Jesus the car market is all over the place at the moment eh.
So let me think, say £2700 to buy £500 to service...
I have some pics but cant seem to host them on Photobucket for some reason. Sounds like he is now going to trade in at his Uncle's garage for a run about.
Thanks all, not entirely sure I can be bothered with it all as I will need to spend say £700 odd on it for the service bringing my spend to £3200, plus the MOT is due in Dec and the tax Due in July. Its not the nicest colour either so I may then struggle to sell it. If any of you are interested...
Thing is I am only really thinking of buying it to drive for a while and then make a few £'s, dont want to shoot myself in the foot. Say I get it for £2500 have the cambelt and service done, what would it sell for ? He recons its HPI clear and no bodywaork issues. Plus what would the Cambelt and...
He has agreed to let me have it for £2700 and just confirmed last service was at 33k miles and 2007, cambelt has not been done. I could probably get it reduced to £2500 though ? Cheapest for a cambelt change ?
Hi All,
Great site, hoping you can give me a bit of information.
A friend of mine is looking to sell his 2003 03 plate Clio 172 in flash red (i think its classed as) with just over 43k miles, MOT until Dec and Tax until July. He is not very good with cars so cannot give me any idea of what...
