what throttle cable do you use on the mk1 172 conversions? just finished it, car has been driving fine. got it back from its mot and the cable is jamming inside the sleeving. cant find anywhere that sells 172 cables, so can i use a 1.8 16v cable?
had the car started with easystart today so i know its sparking. still not getting the fuel pump to run. i have getting the brown wire from the fuel pump relay wired up now.
i noticed there is another wire (number 2 on relay), it seems to be grey coming out relay then changes to black within...
hi, im busy fitting a 172 engine into a mk1 1.2 clio shell. i have took the engine out of a clio williams shell.
when i go to start the engine it turns over but there is no fuel, cant here the fuel pump running either.
i noticed in the williams shell where the engine loom joined interior loom it...
but if that was the case, the butterfly shut still be going back to its closed position, which it isnt. it need to go back about 1mm, before it shuts and i get a decent idle. it also idles properly when its on the throttle stop.
i also had a sticky cable, fitted a teflon coated bike brake cable instead. just incase anyone also has a sticky cable. made mine alot better. just got the last 1,, sticky now :(
i mean like drill a new hole where the spring locates, putting more tension on it, its just the last 1mm where it doesnt shut if you gently ease off the throttle, if fine if you let your foot of quick though.
can you not move the spring somehow so there is more tension on it? i'll have a look this week.
dont wanna buy new, as its on a saxo so would rather buy bike bodies or carbs if its gunna cost £200.
got the mechanical 172 throttle body on my saxo vts.
it seems to be a bit sticky at about 1mm before closing, so sometimes giving me a 1.5-2k idle.
is this a common problem?
was thinking of just taking it apart and cleaning it?

has anyone got an induction kit for sale?
fitting 172 throttle body to my saxo vts and wanting a 172 filter to go with it to keep the pipe bores the same dia all the way through.
also, has anyone got any pics of how the ICVs are setup on these...
