Honeymoon in Vegas (and the rest)

Nice shots mate. Great composition. We got married in Vegas last year in a weeks time, so it is a special place for me. I love that old red truck picture.

Lol. It's quite striking though despite the conjoinedness

I'd go for the 70-300vr fella. Especially on a DX body as the focal length will be extended and the shake will be exaggerated. eBay ones are cheap these days

Bought my first DSLR - What next

Make sure you don't buy a cheap polariser. Better ones are thinner so less effect of pictures. Glare will be reduced though either way. Agreed. Much better than angled down IMO. I lye on the floor to take shots of the rabbits

    Head Gasket failure??

Might have caught it early then. Fingers crossed. I'll drop you a PM soon (or would you prefer through the website?). Need to get my other car working at this weekend (typical both go in the same week).

    Head Gasket failure??

is it possible to get a tiny leak on the gasket which reseals once all the pressures/temps are up?

    Head Gasket failure??

I was going to come and see you mate, so I wouldn't class it as thrown away ;). It's strange, I ran it yesterday with no issues, coolant level stayed consistent, but this morning it did it's thing and the coolant has gone max to min again. Not done compression test as my mate didn't think there...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

looking good fella. First time i've seen the 2013 model ;)

    Head Gasket failure??

Cheers mate. No leak from the matrix that I can see. Heaters are indeed hot and were during bleed. The smell only comes when the window is open, so that's probably coming from the pump leak

    Head Gasket failure??

Good shout mate, but wouldn't the oil go cloudy?
  11. Jonny1*2

    Head Gasket failure??

Checked the level before and after and no raise in level and oil looks clear

    Head Gasket failure??

Water pump is leaking, so that might explaining some issues. The loss of coolant looks minimal from this area though. my mate pressurised the system and the tank almost emptied and the coolant didn't return once the car was turned on. It didn't leak out and even he was stumped as to where it went.

Wheel nuts coming loose on track

As said, studs would do the same. Just over torque the bolts slightly but when the car is cold as you could snap a bolt. Are you sure they are loose or is it just when you check them while warm?

    Head Gasket failure??

Ok I'll give it a go. I assume it will prove if the stat is fine, but anything else? More crap in the reservoir tonight. Little bit of oil residue it appears. Oil level is fine and doesn't seem to be increasing. Coolant needs topping up every couple of days. No drips when parked. No smoke from...

    Head Gasket failure??

Could do yeah. It made the same power as when it was made which makes me wonder. It's just the smell in the header tank is worrying as I can't think of any other way it could get there :(
  16. Jonny1*2

    Head Gasket failure??

Oh. Is there not something that can be put in the coolant to confirm leak?

    Head Gasket failure??

Car has been rolling roaded recently with the overheating issues and power is good. Presumably if compression is down so too will be power?
  19. Jonny1*2

    Head Gasket failure??

Take it out all together? Does the housing not leak as the stat has the gasket in? Or do you mean get a new one? It wouldn't explain the fuel smell I assume?

    Head Gasket failure??

I've been having a few issues with the clio of late. Mainly overheating. Firstly it was an issue with the stat, so that was changed, and replaced with a new renault stat which was also duff. So i've now replaced it with a new one (checked it in a pan first) and i'm still getting issues. I have...

download a cracked copy of lightrooms mate. Works brilliantly and is relatively user friendly. Have you played with the metering settings also? WB will be affected by this due to the reference point. The second picture for example has two different colour lights, so this will affect the over all...

    Nikon D600

That's cheap mate. Stick it on eBay UK and you'll shift if no problem even with postage.

    Nikon D600

Roughly £1500 for d3, £2200ish for d3s and £1900 body only for d800. Battery grip on top obviously. All second hand prices
  25. Jonny1*2

    Nikon D600

Wasn't too fussed about video otherwise is have got a d3s. No point if you Judy take photos
  26. Jonny1*2

    Nikon D600

it would be a waste of a change imo. You would have to get the battery grip also imo. If you put the pro body next to a d7000/d7100 and d600 with grips on the size isn't much different really.
  27. Jonny1*2

    Nikon D600

That was my only gripe with this body to be honest. The specs look brilliant, but in the end I opted for a second hand D3. The D800 felt massive compared to the D3, especially as I like the battery grip options. The D3 is immense. Would recommend it to anyone and the ergonomics are fine. The...

Toyed around with this myself, but ended up skipping the d600 and getting a mint D3 instead (was going to get the D3s, but for the extra £1000 I couldn't justify it and the difference aren't that great imo). OMG the pics are amazing by comparison to DX. My gear is also on ebay :)

    Nikon Gear on eBay

I'm selling my Nikon gear as i've upgraded. This is the link to the D7000, but there are a few lenses and filters if anyone is interested. If the item hasn't been bid on i'm open to offers. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321138307089?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_128wt_1166

How expensive is the gear? Home insurance usually has a personal possession cover up to £1500 as standard.
