I just checked out the WIM website, they seem to offer steering geometry checks as well as wheel alignment
Might pay them a visit myself seeing as my newly-aligned car doesn't track quite straight and the steering wheel is offset from centre
Speaking of which, anyone know what the geometry spec...
Cheers fellas
www.tyrereviews.co.uk has some good write-ups too
Think it'll be the 3s then ... £320 for 4 fitted at a place round the corner from work via BlackCircles :approve:
Am thinking of trying Conti SportContacts as my next set of tyres but which to go for, SportContact or SportContact3? I can get them both for about the same price (~£78 fitted)
and
you can't both be right fellas so which is it?
oh yeah and the low speed ride is awful (way too stiff in bump/compression damping) but check your tyre pressures, they seem very sensitive to it
I'm in Cov too
Speaking of which, anyone know a good service place round here, where I can either (a) wait while I have the work done, or (b) that is very close to where I work (Jag Engineering Centre - CV3 4LF) where I could drop the car off and walk back?
Otherwise it's Fred @ BTM ...

I've got another set - that's what first made me notice that the markings on the ones that are on my car were wrong. Thanks anyway
I still don't know what springs have white markings only ... anyone?
Just compared my ride height with mate's standard 172 Cup. Ground to wheelarch apex is 63cm on his car and 65cm on my car.
So my car is out by 2cm. IIRC the Cup is lowered by ~15mm then I'm guessing I've got regular 172 Sport springs and not cup springs. Anyone agree?
Sometime ago I had the springs and dampers changed on my 172 cup and afterwards the ride height didn't look right (see this thread). Well today I noticed that my rear springs only have white markings but I think cup springs should have white and yellow markings. Can anyone confirm what the...
Seen you a few times in the car park parked near me. Mine's the 172 Cup, WN52 ***. Wanna catch up sometime? Could do with comparing ride heights ...

I've got them on my Clio Cup. IMO - rubbish. Compared to previous Goodyear Eagle F1s, they have worse traction, tramlining and ride comfort, and poor lateral grip in the wet. It washes out into understeer abruptly, especially on greasy roads like we've got at the minute. And don't even think...
I've checked the washer tubes and the nozzles, they are not blocked, as I said
i.e. I do sometimes get a bit of a spray. This is why I think there is a blockage in the bottle
But I can't access the damn thing in thanks to yet another bit of brilliant user-friendly Renault "engineering"
I've got this problem too. I can hear the pump working but only a dribble comes out at best, ususally nothing at all. Reckon the bottle is blocked at the outlet but no idea how to get at it, as it's all hidden underneath the wiper mechanism and sandwiched between the fire/sound proofing and the...
Thanks folks, yes I totally agree, sticking starter. Basically it won't start at all now, but it will start after you rock the car when it is in gear
Can't wait to stall it at the traffic lights ...
Maybe but I think the immobiliser was OK, as described at the start of the thread the immob light was going out after a few seconds.
I was reading around the forum a bit whilst I waited for Mr Breakdownman, from what I can gather it would seem like the starter motor is dying
Weird ... breakdown man comes out, tries to start it, nowlt happens. Shines his torch around a bit, tries it again ... it starts. Looks at me totally mystified, but it's up and running. We turn it on and off a few times, it seems fine. Hoooray ... but WTF?
The only thing he did different to me...
Help, I can't get my 172 Cup to start after being parked outside for 5 days :(
When I turn the key, absolutely nothing happens except a clicking noise from the front passenger footwell.
The immobiliser light (red dot between the stop and the service light) is flashing when i get in the car...
Here's a thought ... although my rear springs have the right part number, could they have been mis-labelled at Renault (or whoever supplies their springs)? i.e. has the supplier put a 172 Cup labels on non-Cup springs, supplied them to Renault, and then Renault have sent what they think are Cup...
Already done >2k miles on them, typically with a load in the boot (camping, mountain bikes, that knd of thing) so would have thought they would have bedded in by now
