it wont be the clutch cuz is would be happening in every gear not just a select one and you'd definately notice it when pullng off in first, i would agree with jooliona above fuel filter or plugs but i would think you'd notice hesistation in all gears again.

start with quite a rough sandpaper summat like a 60 grit and then work your way down to get a smooth finish, when you get the filler stage you need to use wet and dry to get it really smooth. is it a boot build or something youre doing?
