The Focus RS is a great car IMO, just a shame some seem to be suffering from cracked piston rings.
OP have you drove your mates Clio? Maybe worth swapping cars for a few hours.
Glad you've got it sorted mate.
I've just purchased a double oil catch can (one for each breather) which should help prevent this, also a friend who works on them says the cars that are driven properly seem to carbon up less then cars that are used for short trips to the shops ect.

I was messing mate, I know of the original owner from various MINI forums and he appeared to take care of it.
I'm not sure if you've looked into the HPFP issue but basically there's a part in the pump which over time can/sometimes develop a hairline crack. This in turn leads to the pump no...
The coking issue isn't something you have done on a regular basis bud, depending on how the car is driven some people don't suffer from the issue. Short trips ect makes things worse.

Looking good mate, hope you're enjoying Mini ownership?
We've had two R56's and although they both had the timing chain and water pump replaced under warranty neither had any of the issues posted above. Neither drunk any oil either and both were light years ahead of the Clio in terms of build...
