It's an age old question FF v's crop.
FF produces such nice images and depth of field in the images. The sensors are also typically higher resolution (albeit perhaps not per square mm of sensor) so you can crop hard into the images. The reality is that a lot of people are scared of cropping...
I think the 7d has already taken a serious hit with the 70d 60d 6d making consumer cameras seriously high performance and good value. So suspect the 7D will take less of a hit than historically MK1 bodies have taken after a MK2 launched.
Can't believe I used 'there' instead of 'they're' in...
Buying new bodies is a great way to loose money and won't make as big a difference to the images you take as a decent lens will.
If you're set on buying a crop body then I would look at a used 7d (circa £5-600) and then buy a decent piece of glass for it. Bare in mind that 24mm isn't actually...
Thanks guys!
Not sure what 2014 holds. Probably less events. But focusing more on the business aspect. I need to make this hobby pay. Unfortunately Wrc and F1 have huge associated costs. But ELMS and BTCC look likely. With a slight move into automotive photography.
On another note, my Jordan...
So it's that time of the year again. It's been an amazing year i can't see me topping anytime soon. Winning MSA YPOTY in 2012, then my first time at the British Grandprix and shooting Wales rally GB.
Anyway, enough talk. Here are my favourites. C&C always appreciated positive or negative...
Last week saw me in unfamiliar territory. I was fortunate enough to be shooting Wales Rally GB, which would also be my first Rally. I won't go on (i've got a blog post for that), but I will say that it was awesome. Photographically as easy as any other high level event - great shots to be had...
Thankyou mate!
Cheers Sam!
Thanks Naith
Very kind Chris,
Yes the technique for 3 is as per Naith's post
haha, glad it got some people confused :)
Exactly! We might make a tog out of you one day mate ;)
Cheers!
Thanks Bobby
Thanks Kyle
Cheers Ben
Thankyou mate
Exactly. It...
Well done mate. A season of superb work that holds it's own amongst the BTCC togs (and blows a lot out of the water)
Fingers crossed we can make next season another corker!
Another small catchup. Not my final events of the year, but very close.
A somewhat lack laster BTCC Silverstone. Made up for by an absolutely blinding finale at the always brilliant Brands Hatch GP circuit.
C&C encouraged!
I even wrote a few blog posts if you're bored:
BTCC @ Silverstone...
I've not posted in ages once again. So here's a bit of a catchup!
It's been a mixed few months, naturally there will be some BTCC in here. Some British GT at Brands (always a favourite), Lotus Cup and a brief trip over to Spain to shoot the Barcelona 24hr.
I've also been using my primary...
This is what I did to solve the issue. It worked for at least 4 years, then I sold the car.
"Renault actually produce a fix for this issue (so they clearly know about it), what their fix is is basically a piece of self adhesive foam rubber. For the princely sum of £35. Being a skint student...
Thats because Nikon never used to make Prosumer glass. Canon has always had the market sown up with cheap L glass. 70-200 F4, 100-400, 17-40F4 etc...
Except for a few recent additions, Nikon glass was always either Consumer or Pro. And priced accordingly.
I'm interested to know how the AF...
Top pics as always Chris. To be honest i think you could take any camera gear combination and produce pixel perfect pans, great for people to see that may believe not having pro gear is preventing their photography from improving.
I would say yes you would notice a difference. But it probably isn't worth the £££ difference and sacrifice in focal length unless you are quite serious about your photography.
I was lucky enough to be given a 1dX to play with. I loved the extra wide focal lengths it provided, i loved the hair...
If you're buying new (which i wouldn't)
WEX prices - so probably about 10% more than you could get them for.
70-200 2.8 Non IS : £960
1.4x TC mk3 - i just wouldnt buy this new. I paid £140 for my mk2 used. But list is £390
70-300 L : £1129
I wouldn't see that as a huge difference. You loose...
Both look like sharp photos to me. So i dont see the point.
I think everyone realises that 200mm is shorter than 400mm. I think the point Andy is making is that people are afraid of cropping, but with the quality of modern glass and resolution of modern bodies - this isnt something to be afraid...
1dx - 18.1 mp
6d - 20.2 mp
I didn't really recommend the 70-200 as the solution. More that it's an important lens in the lens line-up.
For the Mac Loop type stuff, alot of the guys are using lenses like 300 f4 or 400 5.6. Plus those with deep pockets using the big 2.8 or f4 primes.
I had just written out a long post about how the L series lenses all make sense on FF. But you dont want to read me going on.
The short of it. I dont feel 70-200, let alone 70-200 + 1.4tc is too short for some motorsports photography. Alot of it depends on what style of photo you take. If you...
Well in April i found out that an oppertunity would likely come about to shoot a little known race at Silverstone.
Well as a few of you may of seen, it happened last weekend. And it was quite an experience. I had never even been to a GP before this one and i've always been a believer that...
Update - Fuel pump died on the M5 last weekend.
Just had it replaced to the tune of £280. And that was with garage quoting in the belief that you had to take it out via the access pannel under the bench!
With the roadside joining to AA and a truck to move the car from where the AA dropped it -...
Got it started in the end.
Apparently the answer is to get your girlfriend to sweet talk an AA mechanic into looking at it. He will then hit the fuel tank with a hammer and the car will start working. He will then instruct you it probably wont start again if you turn it off (unless you put alot...
