So my alternator decided to blow itself to bits tonight. The mechanism has failed and the belt is already loose.
After doing some reading I need to disconnect the battery, then remove the headlight and slam panel if I can. Will this give me enough room to unbolt it and remove it?
I've not...
This ones been baffling me for a while...
My car came with pretty new discs and pads when I bought it, both of which are in good condition still. Occaisionally I get this odd braking feeling through the pedal while in general driving, a bit like the ABS is trying to kick in but really poorly...
I'm getting some serious knocking when on full lock turning right. From my understanding this is likely to be the outer CV joint.
After doing some reading on here, I'm led to believe it's cheaper/easier to change the whole driveshaft. At a glance, this would cost £60 from someone like Euro...
I'd like to make sure these are nice and tight after doing some reading that it might be why my steering is a bit 'loose' feeling.
Where can I get access to these easiest from? Are they fairly obvious?
Thanks
Tackling track rod ends tomorrow and I'm wondering what size of spanner is needed for the locking nut usually?
Reason I ask is I think I'll need to buy one first.
Also, track rod ends seem to be coming in at £20 per side at motor factors, does this seem right?
On my Mk2 Ph2 the interior car door lock button doesnt seem to work. I read on here that if you hold the button for 10 seconds it should re-trigger itself, but I'm having no suck luck.
Any suggestions?
I have a Mk2 Ph2 1.6 that I recently replaced the suspension on. I didn't notice anything under the car when I did it, but when going into multistorey car parks theres a worrying knocking coming from the front left.
Any thoughts as to what I should be looking for before I have a look at the...
I need a set of springs, ideally just the fronts because I have two rear from another Mk2 Ph2. Theres a 1.6 mk2 ph1 being broken near me.
Would the front springs fit my mk2 ph2?
Cheers
Trying to fix a leaky sunroof. Before taking it all apart and putting it back together again with new silicone, I've sealed it from the outside where the plastic meets the metal roof, which as far as I can tell would do the same job?
Looking at this picture, the water is getting in through the...
My girlfriends clio is a Mk2 Ph2 dynamique.
Last MOT it had a couple of shocks replaced and fitted with apex springs (40mm). It also has 25mm spacers on the front because It has MK3 wheels.
The handling feels awful really crashy and dangerous at times.
It has new toyo proxes and I had an...
Possibly needing to replace my starter motor or get it refurbished. Are there any guides on how to do it? I'm hoping its pretty easy to bolt on and off.
1.6 MK2 PH2 Petrol Clio.
Are the starter motors for all the models the same?
Following on from another thread, I've been having some issues getting my clio to start up.
The battery is brand new today, and the car can be jump started rolling it in second gear. I tested the alternator by removing the battery once the car was running and it seemed fine.
The car unlocks...
I've not had the clio on the road for a long time until this week. I got the car jumpstarted, but after an hours journey I went to turn the ignition and the battery was still dead. The battery's only a few months old, so I wouldn't think it to be that.
Does this point to the alternator being...
My runabout clip had some apex springs fitted and a couple if shocks replaced a few months ago. Just had it on the motorway for the first time and it feels really skittish.
The car pulls to the left a little if I let go of the wheel, but if I hit a bump it jumps to the left abruptly and I have...
Someones totally badgered the wiring for the headunit in my clio 2 ph 2, so only one of the speakers is working.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram or a link to one so I can re-wire it back to the way it's supposed to be?
Thanks
Sam
I'm trying to find a picture/diagram of the wiring from under a passenger seat mk2ph2 to compare with mine.
Mine has been cut up and resoldered but I'm not sure if it's the right order or not.
(I have a blue and brown going to different colours for some reason)
Many Thanks
Sam
Got myself a clio last winter. The airbag light and SERV have been on for ages.
Discovered the wires under the seat had been cut. So I've now re-connected and soldered them all.
The lights are both still on...
What should be the next step? I've been reading about diagnostics. I have an OBD...
I've been sorting out the wiring in my Dynamique under the seats. The last owner had cut the cables rather than unplugging the seats properly...
Anyway I found this switch on the drivers side, but I'm not sure what it is.
Can anyone help?
Part numbers on it say:

My clio's been leaking a bit in the rain. I'm yet to do the sunroof fix, but I noticed the clock flickering on and off.
Even with the key out the ignition, and the car locked the orange display illuminates a wee bit every now and again. It also looks like its just from one side..
Any ideas...
Picked up some 15" Mk3 alloys from another member (thanks jack).
Found a set of 185/60/15 tyres that I've put on them in the meantime. The car's also lowered on some springs - unsure what make but I'm guessing around 40mm.
Will I be ok running this tyre size? I am getting a bit of rubbing on...
This is the join between my downpipe and exhaust. It's not a sealed join and so its blowing.
Whats the best way to repair this? The bolts in there are really rusted.. I'
I'm no expert on exhausts and wanted to hear what other people might think.
thanks!
Recently bought a hybrid mk1 as a project.
Had the car on axle stands for about a week. Got it back on its wheels and wanted to take it on a drive, but when I turned the key nothing happened. I removed the keys and the toad alarm started clicking the same sound as it does when you unlock the...
What a rubbish day. Raining non stop and my bleed nipple broke on the rear driverside caliper. It was brand new as well!
Luckily I'ts attatched to another bolt before meeting the caliper. Does anyone know what this bolt is called? Ill need to find a replacement.
Can I use this bolt as a...
Before you all start thinking "What a Chav!", you're halfway there!
I'm running a Neds and Emos theme night at my students union at the end of this month. I had a brainwave and thought, why not use a chavvy car to promote it?, why not use a burberry car!?
So I set out to find a car for under...
Mums finally decided she wants a new tv. (HDTV) but nothing too big. and a budget of 250.
Youve done me proud before cliosporters, find me a bargain!
