I'm not round these parts much, just lurk a bit and have a wee search on Edinburgh once in a blue moon to see whats happening locally!
Still running about in the Clio, Focus keeping the garage warm. Come spring the plan is to stick the Focus on the road for the summer and see if the 172 can...
Your only hope is to adjust the results according to the value of your cars - If he laps in two minutes then you have to beat eight minutes as his is probably worth four times the value of yours!
There is no way a 2.5ltr turbo'd five cylinder Focus is going to be outpaced by 2ltr n/a Clio...
I'd stick to hubcentric spacers and longer bolts in the short term and look for a donor car that can give up all its front components as well as its engine.
In short, you would do well to familiarise yourself with two key areas before heading over. First the main one, the track layout itself. If you can use a games console great as its more interactive or even just study the many youtube videos that are around of cars heading round.
You wont get a...
This was the 2009 run over too - its no shorter than the one above :s

If you're bored you could have a read of the "report" I did of our last run over there a couple of years ago, the names wont mean much though. Also, I can't recommend this site enough either, read everything you can on here before you head over - http://nurburgring.org.uk/
The report...
You can't get power out of that car.
Stripping it out will make it lighter which has a similar effect though & a decent suspension kit will let you corner faster thus carry speed once its wound up & decent brakes will mean stopping can happen later than before. This will make the car faster...
Watching this chat with interest. In the same boat with a K-tec thats doing my head in with its boomy drone driving up the hill to my house every day.
Not getting anal about oe parts on a ten year old daily runabout thats looking its age, a decent fit pattern part that won't fall off before next...
I'd be asking where the other grill for the 6x9 speakers that have been butchered in to the shelf is and why he wants barely shy of £800 for a car that isn't particularly low miles, doesn't look in spectacular condition in the pictures and can be had elsewhere for half the asking price...
Just had a little blast from the past - I very nearly bought that very plate (L2OUD) direct from the DVLA back in circa 2001/2002 when I was doing a lot of ICE competitions!
Was thinking about it the other day while looking through some old photos - Ended up using the money for a 7" monitor and...
Puppy! Thought I'd seen traces of you around on here now I've returned to Frenchie ownership.
The link is below to these Brazilian pads, I've been around long enough to not expect much from these but they can't be any worse than the Redstuffs I had in the Focus, Phil nearly ran in to someone...
Anyone came across Fremax pads on any vehicle before?
All I can find is that they are aimed at being "high end OEM spec" and they're from Brazil, that country well known for automotive exports :S
They sound a bit dubious but I can get front pads for my runabout 172 for £18!
I would say it is stainless, albeit manky and unloved (should be shiny still under all that krud), but aftermarket and probably not directly fitted to an OE centre section as I suspect you have on your car.
Depends what your ebay seller has described it as, as to what action you want to take...
The mount and join section looks about right for a phase 2 Clio, the only bit that is putting me off a little is the length of the tailpipe after the box, it does appear a little long but its hard to tell from the pics you've posted.
Have a look here, there are loads of pics of back boxes with...
I don't think you've read the last line properly. If you are changing the cams and getting work done on the cylinder head to aid the flow of gasses in addition to changing the breathing on the outside of the engine, like the air intake and the exhaust gas exit then yes you would need to have the...
The OE airbox has came out best in many tests of filters on the 172 & 182.
Open filters draw too much hot (not dense) air in which kills the power output and the enclosed filters only really move the bhp and torque lines around on the rolling road graphs rather than aid either area.
Taking the...
I'd be tempted to suggest they'll look a bit cheap when in situ in the car as they're vinyl finished rather than leather.
As a result, they may be uncomfortable on a hot day too but on the bright side, they're wipe clean!
The join section to the centre pipe positioning looks a lot like I remember an old K-tec supplied exhaust looking like (sure it was labelled up as a "Tiger" manufactured one though K-tec sold it under their own branding).
I'd be tempted to suggest it was an older style stealth back box from...
Stainless brake hoses and decent fluid is a good shout.
DS2500 pads are a good blend for road/track driving.
I found Koni springs and adjustable shocks good on my old 172 many moons ago.
Toyos T1R tyres are quite good in various conditions for the price, though I prefer Michelin Pilot...
Very different beasts, an S3 would feel very numb and lifeless against a Clio sport, too refined to be proper fun on the road when used to the Clio.
The parts also aren't as cheapy available either, as addressed above.
If you don't have a huge amps putting a strain on the charge coming from the alternator and drive the car for more than five to ten mins once its been started up most journeys then any run of the mill job would do.
You might want to take some legal advice, though I would be wary from the outset of the type of firms that offer no win no fee deals then tuck away in the small print the percentage of any pay out that they take as their fee. I would have thought your insurers would have a legal firm affiliated...
