If there are any Renault Mechanics out there please can you confirm that a mk2 172 actually has a "Crankshaft Spigot Bearing" as i have been told by a dealers RTE that they do not ??

I have an update on this problem and just thought i would share it. I emailed a "Technical Expert" who works at the Renault Sport division about the 1st gear clunk problem and he has come back with something else that could be the cause. My car is now booked into the dealers for the 8th...

thanks for the reply. My car has had a new gearbox already. The service manager says that it isn't clutch drag as its not doing it when you put it in reverse so i don't know whether to believe him or not anymore. He has also said that he is confident that it is not doing any long term damage...

my car still has it and have even changed the oil in the gearbox to fully synthetic!! Does anyone actually know what is causing the clunk knoise and whether it is doing any long term damage to the car??? thanks

I need to replace the passenger air vent in my clio mk2 172, the one nearest to the door/window, not the ones in the centre. Can anyone tell me how to get the vent out and how to replace one?? Thanks in advance. Dave

The sat nav system is actually made by VDO Dayton and is based on there MS5000 model but made for Renault and uses Renault Firmware. I got a PDF Manual for the MS5000 of VDO's website which is almost identical to the one that came with my Renault Sat Nav. Hope this helps Dave

the headunit says cabasse auditorium tronic and is the update list that is writen on it. The unit is not using any adaptor leads!??

I have the 4 digit security code, i have tried the unit in a brand new 55 plate new shape clio and the stereo works fine, i can enter the code. When the stereo is put into a 172 or a meagne the unit will switch on but does not bring up the 4 zeros on the display to tell me to enter the code...

I believe that the cabasse headunit is 40wx4 thats why i wanted to change it over. The unit will power on and take a cd and will eject it, but nothing comes up on the display, i am not able to enter the code. Pressing buttons on the unit just makes a beep noise. The connectors all seem to fit...
