Dan,
I used to find mine was very accurate on my 172 ph1, within 1mpg. If you fill to the brim and run it till the red light just comes on, I found that it would take almost exactly 10 gallons (45.4 litres) then you can easily work it out by moving the decimal point, so if you do 430 miles from...
My Clio did over 200k, the only reason it died, is that the Aux belt broke and wrapped itself round the cambelt. I was really annoyed to have this happen, as it's a well known problem with the 172, and even more annoying as I had the cam belt replaced twice in the time I had it
Brown Bear, where did you get 3 seconds a lap slower than Massa ? I am not disputing the figures but here is the link to autosport where Massa was driving the identical car the next day, it says "no times were issued after the run"

Going to give these a try, apparently even brighter...
My 172 did 204,000, the only reason it died, was I forgot to get the aux belt changed, and it snapped and wrapped itself round the cambelt.
As you say, will last if maintained well.
Happens a lot, the local specialist I use said he's seen a good few, its just where the wires are exposed under the fusebox apparantly.....
They get oxodised to death.
You also need to check the wiring loom, they are common for rotting, my friend at work had this happen on his and it caused a lot of issues sounding similar to yours.
He got the wiring sorted and the control relays as you mention and it was fine.
The Lambda sensor is a good starting point...
Let me clear up a few points here as I have LPG on my Clio 172.
It does add a bit of weight, but not massively, unless you run with full petrol as well as LPG tanks. The LPG tank is made to a much higher standard than petrol tanks as it needs to hold a pressurissed fuel, so is heavier
The...
You could try CBS who have a small unit in Alderley Edge (South Manchester)
It is run by Chris who I found to be extremely competent, and fair priced. Although I have not had any major jobs done by him yet, I will be taking my car to him in the future.
Give him a call he is very helpfull

I have a K-TEC "stealth" system on my mk1 172, and it sounds great apart from on the motorway beween 80-95mph where it has reasonant boom which becomes tedious after a while.
I have a K-Tec sports cat on my 172, seems fine, they were very helpful on the phone and when I visited. I am sure you could get one cheaper elsewhere - passed MOT with no problems with sports cat fitted.
