Cheers all.
Cleaned up the abs rings in case it was but no difference. Weirdly the time I did have an abs problem the lights never came on! That's Clios for you!
I replaced the steering wheel about 6 months ago when I started putting my car back to standard. Refitted the seats and...
Hi all
Recently had the traction control light and serv light come on after putting my car back to standard. Plugged in my RSTuner which came up with a brake pedal fault. Adjusted the switch as per the guide on here, cleared the fault code, refreshed the faults list and all good. However...
Sorry for the lack of updates. The guy doing it has been moving workshops after falling out with his landlord - roof started seriously leaking and landlord refused to repair it - not great with a workshop full of rusty vdubs!! So been on the bottom of his list of priorities for a while. Now...
Re: My 1st contribution to the Dub scene - 1966 VW Split Screen complete resto + good
Cheers, can't wait to get to the rebuild stage like you :) PM'd you about costs. Hope you don't find too much when you bare metal her.
Re: My 1st contribution to the Dub scene - 1966 VW Split Screen complete resto + good
Good job! Will follow this with interest. I've got an early bay dormobile but nowhere near solid (well wasn't - its getting there now :)). My progress thread if you're interested -...
Now 'new' front arch on and staring to look more complete down this side. Arch is actually a cut from a rust free cali van as the arches on my van are one year only and not available as pattern parts:
Been ages since I've updated this but work has been coming on at a pace. Realised the more I did that there was no way I was ever going to get the van back together this year! Stumbled across a restorer literally 5 minutes away from me called House of Dub. Got a quote, got the van shot...
Cheers for the comments everyone. Bit of an update on the last couple of weekends. Massive thanks to FunkyMunky on here who has now spent a couple of days helping me out. So last weekend carried on with the strip down.
Started on the roof. Top coat of paint came off with very little...
Quick update on the weekend's progress. Spent Saturday over in Norwich with FunkyMunky off here swapping his standard seats for a lovely set of trophy recaros. Only took a couple of hours but traffic was sh!te on the way back and raining when we got home so nothing doing on the van Saturday...
So, thought it was high time I did a bit of an update. My father in law got me a book on restoration for Christmas and I thought, how hard can it be? lol. So as the weather warmed up I decided to crack on with it...
Day one. Had the lads round and removed the pop top and started to bare...
I had to do that in my chimaera as it was my daily driver. No abs and traction control , rear wheel drive 300bhp and a tonne make for interesting snow driving!
^^Would love to, but it would take me years and just want to use it! Garage is local though so am going to be free labour for him in the strip down and rebuild plus going to strip and rebuild the engine myself. Just leaving the welding and spraying to the experts.
Right, went to see the first resto man at the weekend. Good news is its reasonable solid as i thought, jacking points, outriggers, beam and majority of the body good :)
List of work goes something like:
- new inner and outer front valance
- new a-posts
- new panel under bottom edge of...
