Updates.
Had a spare hour or so yesterday so got a bit more done.
Annoyingly id forgot to drill and tap the modified inlet for the bolt to the top engine mount. A lot of people dont bother but we do stuff right here.
With this done i could refit the modified 250 inlet. Before fitting, i...
Hello All,
We are now expecting a baby so I doubt I will get much use out of this post summer. Wanted to post it to the hive mind here on a value before listing it. I have a track day at Donington booked for start of May then likely list for sale so someone can enjoy it over the summer. Its...
Continuing photos, this is after its first proper wash, there's a lot of paint correction still to do but I'm waiting for summer to arrive for that, mainly on the front bumper area is quite bad, also after a rear wiper has been re-added, the exhaust fitted and the horrid gel plates removed it...
Updates.
Extra van only moved once last year and has been laid up ever since. To recap it needed a bit of work doing, inlet gasket was leaking on cyl 1 causing a bit of noise on boost and a fuelly mix coating the inlet, and down on power but not by much. I had the parts in stock, but lacking...
Hi everyone,
After 12 boring years without clio ownership, I have once again returned to the fold....
After kicking myself for parting ways with my last inferno 182 cup, this time I've took the plunge with a 172 phase 1. I always preffered the front end of a ph1 over the ph2 cars i've had in...
I Have been reading back through my build thread as i'am really considering selling the clio next year.I Didn't realise how much that i have done to the clio.So i have been just putting together a full sale advert with as much info as i can.So far i have just put a list of all the mods that have...
Slow progress as life has got in the way the last few weeks.
I had a bit of a panic tonight that I hadn’t put any assembly lube or oil in the head when I refitted it. I might have been being a bit dramatic but don’t really care.
Popped the rocker back off and then dumped a s**t load of oil...
Before the track day I tidied up the interior, put my seat in and got the steering wheel in the correct position. Oh and the big wing.
Fitted PureMotorsport seat mounts and foot rest. OMP snap off boss and 60mm spacer.
Rest of my PureMotorsport delivery that still needs unpacking.
As...
Been a while but I've been working most evenings on the Clio (not for very long between how quickly it goes dark or how changeable the weather is now 🙃) trying to tidy up the engine bay and remove the dreaded orange manifolds 😂
Here is the before and after of the work with a list of all the...

After the worlds shortest 182 ownership of 10 days…
The black gold was sold last weekend and I picked up a titanium 182 that had been well loved and had a lot of the things I had planned to do, already done. Rather than start a new thread I’ll just continue here.
Massive spec list I’ll put...
Post Number 68
Engine Build - Part 3 – Block Assembly
Have already gone through the engine spec plan a previous post. Not much changed apart from we eneded up removing the oil squirters. The below gives a fairly brief summary of the work that goes into assembling the bottom end – what isn’t...
Post Number 67
Engine Build - Part 2 – Machine work
Once the engine was stripped the block, head and crank assembly went off to the machine shop we use.
The following work was carried out on the block:
Bored and honed with a torque plate to suit the JE pistons.
Resurfaced but only took...
If anyone fancies a laugh. I’ll update the effort that’s gone in to this b*****d below. Mainly for my own sanity, but also for the lols.
I’ve probably missed a few odds and sods.

Magneti Marrelli injectors

1st step on the sub frame was replacing the damaged rivnuts that I had removed before painting. If you haven’t got a rivnuts tool it’s a fanatic investment
Out came the rust buster em 121 in bright red, I’ve covered everything in the garage with over spray and I mean everything! The engine...
I was almost at the point of pulling the head and binning it as was concerned that the lack of locating dowels was going to be a mismatched cam cover and the repaired corner. However journals and cams looked ok so decided to go with it.
Repair - not great but flat and doesnt leak
2 hours of...
Couple of small updates
Stereo had no surround around it and looked crap.
£5 trim to tidy it up.
The silver centre part of the dash still looks a bit shite. Might get a new one or paint it up at some point.
Coilpack studs and nuts fitted. Coil number 4 had no bolt in it initially suprised it...
Got the amp installed last weekend, dash off and managed to find a decent space for it as below. The kit has a ton of wiring which I didn't really need, but managed to get it tucked under the dash top.
It looks precarious I realise, but it's actually quite well wedged in there and doesn't move...
Spent some time this morning ticking off a few more jobs on the list:
New throttle cable fitted (this definately wasn't done while I was on a work call with my laptop in the garage and just listening on headphone....honest) - although it isn't attached to the throtle boddies yet
Wired up the...
Happy 2023 everyone!
not a lot has happened to the Cup lately, gathered a few parts and completed a couple of small jobs.
first up a set of genuine 172 Cup shocks with bump stop rubbers and the spring plates, these should freshen things up. looking into some lowering springs to keep things...
Did an oil and oil filter change yesterday. Rn some engine fluxh though it too, couldn't see it doing any harm!
So much easier to get to the oil filter now the slam pannel isn't there! Although whoever thought putting the oil filter in that orientation on the side of the block obviously think...
so once again a long overdue update but X amount later the car is running like a dream.
I can't believe how good it is having really cold A/C in the Clio.
The parts alone was a scary amount and then fell off my seat when the labour was on for 2 days work.

So today was collection day!!!
As soon as I got home I was underneath the car fitting the parts that I’d aquired lately.
Firstly can we take a moment to appreciate how clean the underside is featuring the magnetic sump plug.
1st to go on the car was the 1seven2 Developments engine/gearbox...
UPDATE FROM ALEX TODAY…
Hi Ollie,
Sorry for delay, the crankshaft I had initially chosen for your engine I rejected as it wasn’t perfect, meant I had to wait for another crank back from the machine shop, as it’s been polished for a perfect finish.
Anyhow, now we have a complete bottom end...
£3,000 - £3,500. I had 4 firm offers of £3,500 last October when I put my BG 182 FF up for sale but withdrew it to clean the engine and fix oil leaks. Mine’s on 133k now, more standard than yours but with same alloys, tyres but paintwork is immaculate bar a few small marks, which would probably...
I'm considering selling my 182 and getting a clio 200. But what's it worth in this crazy world 🤷.
It has part service history, because I'm great at storing things where I can't find them, and it's due new belts although it did have a new aux kit fitted a couple of years ago. It drives great...
