Back to a Focus

Last Friday I went to pickup the new car, the dealers (Allen Ford in Warwick) had been given some strict instructions (no drilled plates, no washing the car etc). Arrived bright and early to go through the handover procedure. Had a good look around the car and then headed off to Onyx Automotive.

I arrived just over an hour later to be greeted by Harry. We sat down and discussed the PPF, he showed me the options and we went over it on the car itself. He had a lovely Porsche GT3 in that was having the same film applied, it was good to see the difference between the panels for myself. I decided to get the car under sealed at the same time and to get the roof wrapped, the sunroof stands out a little bit too much for my liking so we decided on a satin black roof. I then gave Harry the DMB stickers, mudflaps and bonnet lifters and headed off to my hire car.

It was a long (very slow) week but finally the day had come. I dropped off the hire car and walked down to Onyx Automotive, I ended up being very early as I had miscalculated the traffic. Harry was just putting the finishing touches to the car when I arrived. When I saw it I realised I made the right decision.

I had a slight issue with the DMB stickers, the front one wasn't right. It was just too small so I will need to re-order that. The drive home was fantastic though! I can't wait to finish the first 1,000 miles.

I'm really pleased with the way the car has turned out and the work Harry and team has done. I just need to stop reading the forums/facebook now as people keep tagging me in things to buy 🙈 The todo list is already growing

Looks fantastic Tom. Is this one going to end up running big power like your Mk 2?

We will wait and see, it's meant to be a more sensible run around rather than a toy so it will probably stay with a warranty friendly tune for a while.

Fantastic mate. Good choice.

What's the sticker chat?

It was the gel RS badges (didn't make it that clear, they aren't really stickers)

That looks mega. What are the stickers and bonnet lifters?

Please tell me it hasn't got bonnet lifters on it.

Unless they're the type that keep your bonnet open rather than making it look like it's been in a shunt.

They are the ones that keep your bonnet open (when you open it). Super easy to fit, no idea why they didn't do it from the factory.

Flapz and stickers make me 😢

Other than that, great choice!

Get miles on it, power hard out of turns, get stupid grin stuck to your face.

Thanks, the flaps are just for protection, not a massive fan of the look but they were fantastic at keeping my mk2 clean so decided to use them again on this. The stickers are a guilty pleasure

What are the stickers and where are they going though? I know dmb make those weird gel overlays but I'm not sure what the plan is.

Looks good. Did it cost you an arm and a leg? Looking to get my Impreza detailed (is in dire need of a machine polish) and am pretty local to West Brom. Seem to look good on Facebook at least!

Gel RS overlays for the front, rear, sides of the spoiler, intake pipe and the wheels. All but the front gel RS badge is on. Will be putting in a replacement order this evening for the front gel RS badge. The only other sticker on the car will be for one of the owners clubs.

I'd contact him, he will go through what you want and provide a quote. It would depend on what you want doing and the type of coating you want (wax, ceramic etc). I found him to be very good on price.

Underseal, mud flaps & gel badges. Could only be a Ford 😂
Colour is ace mind you. Good to see another on the forum.

It does follow the stereotype

Please don't buy a polished header tank or an RS private plate.

I won't be buying any polished items, any plastic covers (fuse box, coolant cover, ecu cover etc) will be colour coded to the car though.

  A terrible one
Pics aren't working for me but good choice! What options did you go for. I see you've already mentioned the sunroof?

Not too sure why the pictures aren't working for you :(

Spec is:
Recaro shell front seats
19" forges alloys
Door Edge Protectors
Sunroof
Heated Steering Wheel
Active City Stop
Luxury Pack

Best colour. Well, to look at. Not to own.

I've already realised that! Every bit of dirt/water mark seems to stand out. When it's looking clean it looks fantastic IMO, keeping it that way will be a challenge.
