Fly by wire ph2 throttle on floor mounted pedals

  Clio 172 Merc ML55
Apologies if I haven't put this in the right section

So me and the wife went to autosport on Saturday and I made the mistake of letting her loose on her own, 10 minutes later she comes back holding a box full of bits. Floor mounted pedals to be precise, now I'm more than happy with setting up the clutch and brakes but the throttle is a whole other story.

I assume it can be made to work?

Hopefully someone can be of assistance please, it's not often I ask but there's always something to keep me busy.

For reference it's a comp brake setup, haven't got part numbers to hand but has adjustable brake bias if it helps

You can make it work, I've got a pedal box in mine. You need to weld a bracket on and make/modify the linkage (assuming its similar to the megane throttle, cant remember what the Clio throttle pedal is like). Anyway long story short I binned the floor mounted throttle and kept the FBW megane throttle and use that with the floor mounted clutch and brakes. Works well like that in my opinion.

Definitely food for thought there thank you, ideally I'd like to keep all 3 if I can, I'll get hold of another throttle pedal and see what the insides are like and go from there

Thanks

I'd look to make it similar to the Megane II dCi setup... infact, you could possibly get away with using that actual potentiometer!

It links the pedal to the potentiometer by means of a link rod - Obviously you'd need to modify the pedal to accept the link rod and make a bracket to mount the potentiometer but assuming the values on the two tracks are the same range, it'll be a perfect little solution for your setup.

Ahh OK, that sounds like a better idea. Will have a look into the Meg setup, don't suppose you'd know if it's just the dci's or do most run the same?

Thanks

Possibly something like this off ebay 232208042438 @MicKPM? Sorry for all the questions and thanks again

That's the one and the connector is available to buy new also, making wiring pretty easy to. I believe it's a dCi only unit on these though and the Petrols run a pedal/potentiometer combined unit.

Brilliant, thanks again for your help. I'll get one off the old ebay now and have a play around with it

Have you tried fitting the pedal box yet? The model I bought from CompBrake, I sent back because the fit was 'a bit off' and the weight was almost twice the advertised weight. They didn't answer any of my emails and I had to get a refund via Paypal in the end. I hope you have better luck than me.

I haven't yet Wyn but thanks for the heads up, I'm not too worried about the weight as long as I can get it to work, otherwise I'll look at some other options

Thanks

I've gone down a different route and got an inlet manifold with a flange welded on with a throttle body from a phase 1 (cable throttle). The only issue would be the ecu problem but I had that option as I'm on a standalone.

I like the thought of standalone but it's a bit further down the line for me, brakes and suspension first, then I'll be looking at either itb's or a turbo. All in good time I guess
