Thought on this 182?

Always wanted a 182 and finally the insurance isn't too bad for me, only got a budget of around 2k and I'm in Scotland so need to find one nearby..

Got 102k miles on it and has apparently had a new engine rebuild recently. Not a huge fan of the back windows but I'm sure that could be fixed.. not been to see it yet. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cars so not sure what to look for.

Why do you need to find one near by? I'd rather travel to York for a good one than to the East end of Glasgow for a mediocre one.

I wouldn't buy either of those. That top ones been for sale for 7 months and the bottom one does nothing for me.

Put a wanted ad up on here and find one that hasn't had pictures taken by a complete mongo and that actually has a decent description/history. Which neither of them have.

Like f**k would I be spending 2k on either of them.

Wouldn't 2k get you a nice 172 Cup? Admittedly I haven't looked in a while.

I'll put a post in the wanted section.. would be ideal if I could find one on here that way I know it won't be a heap of sh*t... main problem is my budget seen a few nice ones but out of my price range.

That looks alright but as a rule of thumb I'd avoid gumtree.

Both are s**t. As for the orange one anydody who does the back windows like that will have done god knows what else. The silver one has a black roof in the first photo but not in the others so what is going on with the roof, plus the blacked out windows? I would avoid cars that have messed around with so badly.

Cheers for all the replies... the last thing I want to do is to shell out 2k on a pile of sh*t.

Going to hold off and wait for the right one to come up on here. No point rushing into it, I'll get one eventually.

Gumtree can be great, makes no difference where you buy it from, just be picky and careful.

Thoughts on this one? Doesn't have cup packs as far as I can tell?

Asked him if dephaser pulley and cam/aux belts had been changed he replied had cam belt kit at 71k.. Does this mean dephaser would be changed aswell? Like I've said pretty clueless when it comes to cars but I've heard that's a common problem in 182s.. Only 30 mins up the road so I might go and check it out anyway

Any other questions I should ask him?

Apparently Easyjet Glasgow to Luton is about £30.

There are several 182/172`s in the for sale section within budget with good history carried out by CS specialists.

Admittedly all down South,but worth the trip rather than buy a nail.

Tobes68`s 172 @£1550 stood out to me,given the work done.
