Not on the rallycar but my 172 Cup track car yes, as they are directional you just need to swap them on the rims to get the max life (if circuits mostly right or left handers etc) I have mediums and they lasted very well.
Set them to about 25F and 27R cold do a 5min session come in and set them all to 30 hot straight away. If you don't get them over 30 go out again as you haven't been trying ;-)
Just check after each session the same and set to 30 (have tried 28 when its stinking hot) but shouldn't move after first 1-2 sessions.

So, I've done a bit today...................Despite @not normal dan taking the piss after I told him I was in the garage! Lol!

What your looking at there is the loom for the vvt solenoid and the coil on plug. Still plenty to be getting on with though as there's effectively 3 separate looms! Stupid f**king 197 fancy s**t! Lol!

It's glue lined heat shrink mate. It's to seal the loom to stop water ingress. It stays reasonably flexible though and it's not overly cheap. LolLooks good. What do you use under the heatshrink on these bits, is it some kind of glue?

Bit more done today. Got the injector loom, throttle body wiring and coil on plug all brought together now.
Starting to come together quite nicely now, but plenty left to be getting on with.

I need to tidy up my r26 loom, when we pulled the engine out yesterday my OCD had a melt down.... Beyond tatty.

What you gonna do with it? Re wrap it? Or do what I've done?
I was looking at some of the Raychem products to sleeve / seal the loom... I think that's what you've used?
Don't suppose you know a decent UK supplier?

Yeah it's dr25 raychem that I've used mate. Be warned, if you choose this option you will have to strip the loom entirely and de-plug it to get the heat shrink over the loom.
Do a search for Hudson Wiring mate. You can buy off them by the mtr.
That part terrifies me LOL!
But, I want it doing properly.. If I don't and put the engine back in I'll be disappointed.

Little bit more done over the weekend. It's a real case of slowly slowly catchy monkey currently as I'm only getting an hour or so at a time.
What your looking at here is the loom for the alternator charging signal, oil pressure switch, oil level sensor, air temp sensor and the knock sensor. Not sure if the knock sensor will be required, but it's easier to have it in place and not required than to have to run it in afterwards.

Ok, so who's getting bored of me posting wiring loom pics? Lol! Really starting to come together now as you can see below. All that's left to sort is the coolant temp sensor, crank sensor, lambda sensor wiring, speedo drive sensor wiring and re-pin the new stuff that's going into the ecu. Theres a few splices to put in here and there as well, alongside retaining the original coil pack wiring and plug.
It just makes sense to retain this as if the coil on plug setup becomes unreliable and troublesome, all I'll have to do is make a strategic cut into 1 wire and remove 2 pins in the ecu plug. Done.
Enough waffle.

Hitting a concrete block on the a38 put me down a little
But this is something else, I properly like what you're doing Mark.
Once the house selling/buying is over, I might possibly look into forge rebuild......
