Basically my mini has an expensive repair bill that i need to pay for, I don't really want to be paying that off slowly over the next 6-12 months so........

I have about £5000's worth of octavia VRS (a dealer would sell for £6000)

I have spoken to a dealer about a clio 182, he has said he would give me £2100 and the clio for the skoda, this is the clio in question.

It is cup packed

what do you think?

cheers
steve

Best thing to do is have a look at it in person, and ask for a test drive... check there are no knocks or anything... I portantly check the belts have been done as it has done 74k... its got a full service history... I paid £2200 for my 182 (non cup) which had 73k on the clock but I imagine it was cheaper becasue it had 12 previous owners...

In short, take a look at it in person... pictures can hide alot... take for a drive and see how it is... you will get your obvious squeaks (its a clio  ), but check it feels and sounds mechanically right

I'd check the belts were done somewhere reputable, says done at 55k but where and was everything replaced? It's vital on these cars that it is done correctly, also Aux belt needs doing every 3yrs, that can take out your Cambelt if it fails... Wheels aren't great, but it may well be a good car...

Looks expensive for what it is too.
Maybe not.It had cambelt done at 55k,but no mention of auxillary belt or dephaser,so invoice needs to checked. Also don`t forget it`s recommended every 5 years.
The car looks lowered to me,so check out suspension,it may have a trick set of coilovers. Also check invoices for discs and pads, tyres and any other mods like polybushes. The Scorpion is a plus.
Best take a look and test drive. If the last owner spent money on the car recently,it`s not really overpriced from a dealer, and does have a 3 month warranty.

It's expensive, cambelt done or not.

You can pick up mint examples for 3k.

wash your mouth out!!!! lol mini has 170bhp vtec in it  lol
Fair enough.
Stick mini on axle stands, accumulate cash, fix mini
Clio would be a disappointment at being a road-warrior compared to mini, and a disappointment as a daily compared to the Skodder

This was my thinking if you look around at other dealer prices its not expensive, and it is a quick effortless fix to my problem.

we think this is worth it if i can knock him down on price then?

Remember I only paid £5000 for the skoda, and this should be dealer part ex price i'm dealing with here. He needs to make money at the end of the day. and skoda spoiler has bad lacquer peel

Unless the Clio you get is backed up by a fat stack of paid bills, it could just be another expense waiting to happen.
I'd still stick with the faux-german whip, better the devil you know and all that.

That then doesn't help me quickly raise £2000 lol
I don't need a reliable daily drive really, I work 6 miles away from home lol.
basically there is no question about the skoda going, it's just a case of what it is replaced with. Don't really enjoy driving the skoda anyway
