I fitted mine without messing with any wiring, you just need to make some small spacers and shape a carbon fibre board around the wheel and mount your switches to that

I'd love to do this to mine after fitting the sabelt wheel
Just feel I don't have to skill and patience to do so :(

looking at the pcb's behind the buttons, couldn't you use normal momentary contact buttons and solder new resistors inline?
then just use the original squib connector?
no need to faff about with mounting pcb's or the oem buttons

I've found a couple of solutions for this, just working on getting the bits together to implement it.

All the answers are in this thread.
The only thing you need to work out are where you want your buttons.

haha, not currently, although I suspect someone can make one if you ask nicely.
(not me though!)

I'm the same I'm useless with electronics at the best of time nevermind with these silicon pcb jobbies and finding the right resistors etc [emoji85]

Well, somewhere in the thread was a list of what resistor each button uses, then you can ditch the pcb and the silicon for some good ol fashion wires

Did it? Must have missed that did read this a long time ago haha

My bloody abs and ESP lights came on after fitting my wheel too I was so so carefully taking it apart I have no idea why it's doing my head in.

I don't honestly know how I could have broken the clock spring assembly when nothing actually broke lol dammit!

Who needs abs and traction anyway

Find the pic with the resistors may as well be written in Chinese lol

It needs 3 resistors just on the grey wire? Or is that for the 3 different grey wires?

?
No idea lol

To make it easier.
the grey (positive) wire splits 4 ways so you get 1 feed to each button. (remembering there are 2 buttons on each side of the wheel)

1 with no resistor
1 with a 911 resistor
1 with a 1000 resistor
1 with a 2740 resistor

the green wire then works as 4 way earth, to send the signal back to the ECU.
depending on which button gets pushed, the strength of the signal varies due to the resistor on that line, so the ECU can detect what button is pressed by the voltage (or lack of)

Cheers mate

I don't remember seeing the actual resistor values anywhere, so for anyone that's interested in using their own buttons here goes:

Resistor 911 = 910 Ohms
Resistor 1000 = 100 Ohms
Resistor 2740 = 274 Ohms

Hope this helps someone!

Am I right in saying it's possible to cut the green and grey wires insert the resistors into the middle of the wires (not sure what resistance does what) attach a switch of my choice and then all should be good!?

buttons from maplins / demon tweeks / Halfords.

Couldn't tell you which resistor goes where, although if you've got standard CC buttons you could probably work it out.

maplins or ebay. I've searched ebay and found them all on there without problem.

Resistances are listed in one of my posts above.

  MG ZR x2, Polo, CTR
from what I can make out, yea!

Its 2 wires but different signal strengths to give a different command to the ECU.
just a case of getting the signal strength right with resistors.

  MG ZR x2, Polo, CTR
I don't know if it'll work on 300ohms.
The ecu will be looking for a particular signal.
Not 100% though, so let me know how you get on!

Edit
Tidy looking buttons, added to watch list
