Thought I’d start a little project thread for my (well the soon to be wife’s really) Phase 1. We recently faced the dilemma of whether to get shot of the Clio and replace it with a Panda 100hp or spend a few quid on the neglected daily driver and get it up to scratch. Well the decision was made...
Great, thanks for all your responses guys.
I've never had the bottle to do a cambelt before but the simplicity of this job, with the exception of the frequency tensioning procedure, made me think its one to break myself in with.
Got all the bits, the official Renault engine manual and...
Sorry to resurrect an old thread guys but can anyone help with the tensioning process for a belt on the F9Q. I need to do one on my Megane but I've read on another forum it needs to be tensioned by twanging the belt and listening to the sound frequency using a Renault tool that cost near...
Managed to pin this down to a damaged bearing at the top of the column where it sleeves inside the mount (around the ignition barrel, stalks, etc). A new column from Cliospares should have it sorted this weekend.

Thanks Rob669.
Is this the one you remember:

The more I look into it this makes prefect sense in my case. Anyone know the best way to...
Okay, so with the help of a couple of mates we finally got around to changing my clutch and failing release bearing on the weekend and since putting it back together the steering just hasn't felt the same?
It is now heavier, particularly around the centre point for about half a turn each side...
Do people not think it de-values the car when you chop bits about? Personally I like my Phase 1 exactly as it is, the original concept uncompromised, all the way down to the black plastic side strips.
Whenever I look for an example of an older car I want to see the most original example I can...
