Many people still fit HIDs into reflector headlamps and have no issues at all, others who decide not to fit osram night breakers. The Night breakers are nice but not a patch on a real HID kit.

Why not use RGB strips, and a controller. This way you can pick and choose from thousands of colours and turn them on or off remotly. We've done loads like this.
I wouldnt recommend converting your main beam to Xenon HID. Simply because the technology behind igniting the bulb, it takes roughly 10 seconds for the average xenon hid kit to ignite and reach full brightness. When you flash someone thwe ballast and bulb only get the power for a split second...
Although we sell thousands of LEDs for this very purpose, I don't like the light that the LEDs give off when being used for interior. For external use they're great, really bright crisp white light. However why would you want such light in the interior? Footwells maybe but any over head lighting...
