Hopefully by the time the parts arrive I'll be feeling braver. It does make sense to change the belt. The other parts you mention can wait I think. That's way to technical and beyond my abilities. Thanks all for your help. I would have been screwed without it.

I must admit after watching this I am tempted to leave the belt alone for now. It looks horrendous. Could be a job for the warmer months.

Yeah, I agree, not ideal but by that point there were 10cm flames so I had to do something quick. Just phoned Renault about a replacement alternator and they want £297 for a recon unit. :astonished: Found this online at a much better price. Would this unit be correct...

Thanks for the guide. I've just had smoke pouring out of the grille and when I opened the bonnet, flames coming out of the alternator. One time i was happy it was raining as it meant puddles were handy to put it out. Just out of curiosity, where did you get a replacement alternator from? Thanks.

Not a 250, I think its a 275 GTB/C. Very rare and probably an 7 figure car.

That does sound bad. You do seem to be wrestling the wheel. Has the steering got heavier? ETA. Have you checked all the gaitors on the CVs, rack and track rod ends. Checked for anything that is loose under there?

In my experience CV joints rumble. Its likely to be your top suspension mounts. Not the end of the World. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you how to sort it.

I need some help. I need to change the discs and pads, front and rear on my 172 but I'm not sure what to go for as I don't know what different companies make them and what is available. Up to now I have been to Renault and they want £350 for them. Any help and advice would be greatly...
