Most insurers will increase the premium for a modified car. Normally, the more you mod it the more it costs and pricing can be in 'bands'. Phone up someone like A-plan and they will give you some advice i'm sure

I have had a 182 and now own a 197.
The 197 is a step up in refinement and is more sure footed when it comes to handling. But...for outright fun? It's the 182.
If you go for the Trophy, check the dampers. They are expensive to rebuild. I would get one from off this site if you can

Northampton Motorsport are a great outfit. You won't be disappointed. Not the cheapest but they really know their stuff.
All you need is a car with a good chassis, good tyres and good brakes. Do a track day and you will learn that power means nothing without the ability to use it.
I had great fun in a 1.2 clio with sticky tyres. Getting most out of a car is fun.
