Make sure you get the ECU update if it's a car before May-July 08. It doesn't just get rid of the kangaroo it also makes the car pull much better and gives it more low down torque.
On stock parts Renault ECU update is actually calibarated better than any after market remap and will give you...
Just get the ITG Filter in there as it gives the car a bit more punch, improves economy and seems to work very well with the latest Renault ECU program.
As for people saying the 197 lacks low down torque this is complete rubbish and is based on old information and press reviews of the original...
Get it done.
It doesn't just fix the cold start issues. There is considerable improvement in performance. With the update our R27 is instantly responsive and pulls like our old 172 Cup did.
The Renault ECU update is actually better than any aftermarket remap on stock parts and since...

Just depends on cost and insurance for two people to drive it...

I'd like some opinions from owners of Phase 2 V6's as to how practical the car is day to day and how well the car handles on roads both in the wet and dry.
Also daily fuel consumption would be useful i.e motorway averages and...
I would go to a different dealer as the service varies. The one in Trowbridge where we live is awful, but the one Bristol is superb.
At the end of the day you are having problems and they have a fix so it's a case of either they do it, or you go to trading standards!
