Open with the key and replace the battery while the alarm is going off, its a security measure, just put up with the noise

I thought it might clean everything up to the injector

I saw injector cleaners in halfords, maybe you could try those, add to the fuel tank and go for a run. I used wynn's clean burn to get the car through the MOT and even then it just scraped through.

Recharge the battery, put it back in and disconnect when not being used to see if the car is draining it or if its the alternator or whatever. You could put in a relay to isolate the battery but its probably more expensive than finding the cause and fixing it. And get a multimeter they're cheap.
