Hi, I was looking to make my R27 sound a little nicer for a small cost so I'm deciding between a de cat on the original exhaust or just a silencer removal. I have a few questions. Will a de cat affect MOT's? Also do you get a nice sound out of a simple silencer removal or is it worth de catting...
Hi Guys, got the 3rd gear crunch on the 197. It's not too bad though. I can avoid it if I carefully select the gear or change at low revs. Do I need a new box? I've been offered a brand new box £650 inc fitting. Any advice on whether to get it done or should I try other things first like...
Bought myself a 57 plate 197 R27 a week ago and it's started the 3rd gear crunch. This is obviously pretty worrying but I paid a decent price so a gearbox rebuild should take it up to about average price. Been quoted £600 and £650 for the repair on the syncro. Would be great to get RUK on the...
My new 197's gear knob is horrible, all the leather has come off and it's now yellow. Can anyone recommend any good gear knobs. Had a look at the six speed lift reverse one from Richbrook. Anyone used this or recommend any others? Cheers

thats the link to the T's & C's if anyone feels like picking out anything which may affect a claim of mine in the future.
Yeah that was my thinking behind it. The warranty covers 'wear and tear' after the three month period which i suppose is going to be a good thing as all warrantys seem to put every fault down to wear and tear. The worries of owning a 197. I had 0 worries when i owned my little Twingo RS haha.
The AA warranty we currently have does cover it but only the first £500 of the claim. They offer a 5 star policy but the reviews on that didnt look too good.
cheers mate, would you say the warranty i've took out is a good thing? Would cover a gearbox after 3 months and many other things that go wrong with the cars.
Ive bought the car privately though, does that affect it? I've took out the warranty seperately for peace of mind. £135 every 3 months didnt seem unreasonable on a 197.
It does cover the common gearbox fault. I made sure of that. It was more the 3 month period i was worried about. Kind of hoping it does go in this period so i'm not throwing away 3 months worth of payments. If they deem it to wear and tear, id cancel there and then.
I've just realised i made a typo. The claims in the first 90 "CAN'T" be put down to wear and tear. Anyone had any experiences with synchro mesh problems being deemed as wear and tear?
