Yep I'm going to get them to check it although they can't fit me in today and I didn't think to ask if it's OK to drive? I'm sure they would of said don't drive it if it wasn't...
I'm still unsure if it's all the time or not really to be honest.. The noise IS quiet but it's definitely there. Also don't know if you read all the way up but the EML came on with a code for the knock sensor about 2 weeks ago. Cleared the code and it's not reappeared. Originally thought this...
Havent got round to ringing you yet although I will get on it.. The mechanic I normally use (not the one that did the job) is trying to think of anything else it could be before I go spending loads getting the whole job done again. Do you think maybe the timing could've been set slightly wrong...
Update.. Took it back to the garage that did the job, he says it's not the dephaser but rather just something rattling - nothing to worry about, it won't fail on me. His reason behind this was that it isn't loud enough to be dephaser & the noise disappears when you Rev it. Seemed like he didn't...
Video here, hopefully works?! Yesterday it was noisy while idling but I had just stopped after an hours drive.
Can't hear it as loud on vid but was making the noise when revving at about 2k. Engine was warmed a bit here, gauge quarter of the way up.
