my remote wire was cut and now cannot reach the back of the cd player from the amp etc, can i extend it using any sort os wire?? just strip them back a bit and connect them?? any advice

first of all, any recommended sites or shops to order a lowering kit from. i have a ph1 mk2 2000. want it down about 40 - 50mm, best i have seen is £315 for shocks and springs. any help? i think thats a bit excessive...
