I have a 172 cup and under moderate to heavy braking from 45+ MPH, the rear end "snakes" if that makes sense?
I thought this could be a caliper binding, or such. Cleaned up both front calipers and while the brakes became more potent, the snaking is...

Sorry to bring up such an old thread.
I've just ordered two new rear shocks from Renault.
I've got them both out the box to check resistance, now when I compress neither of them return to the starting position???
Every rear set I've done before on different cars return on their own...
Done this one quite easy ;)
If you screw a screw through the side of the wire so it comes out pointy end front ways down the wire. You just push the screw through gommet with screwdriver in head, get hand around from bay and pull screw though :p

As stated by a few helpful others, this is very likely the psu (power supply unit). Had similar symptons myself, though when i did turn it off (after about a year) it wouldn't power up, so i kept trying until a massive spark flew out of the PSU ;o)

lol thanks all, I was pulling the rear hub bit that doesnt move!!
Embarassed some what I am, good and bad news: the other side didnt have a spacer (booooo), but wasnt welded on (yay) :)
Sorry to post yet again about bloody rear brakes.... but I've got the same bloody issue?
What is the spacer thing? My cup was missing the spacer between the stub axle and disc / bearing. So I got a couple of these today and put them in today.
I've wound piston right in and nothing is...

I got some from renault so if you need part number just holler :)

I've managed to get bearing off, we can't see anything that resemebles one of these spacers?

Whacked it, pulled it, levered it, and the casing is still on!
My clio love has turned to rage in a 1 week of owning lol.

I bought a puller today in the end, but still cant get it off.
Best way to cut it without ruining the stub axle???

I appreciate I'm new, but does anyone in or around cambridge have a 3 arm puller?
Just gone to do my rear discs with my mate and the bloody bearing is stuck on the axle :(

No real knocking under load, just the vibration noise which I'm guessing is the exhaust shield rattle I read up about.
Can move engine a good bit by hand (front to back), may as well replace bottoms I'm thinking as quite cheap for those.
When idling though, there is a rock / slight knock feel...
