Clio 182 Car engine cuts out when driving...

Hi everyone. I have an issue with my 2005 Clio 182 Cup and wondering if anyone has had an issue like I'm having? Im no car mechanic so here it goes....

I have had the car for 10 months now. It has only done 48000 miles.

When driving my car cuts off but then re starts its self, some times it just cuts out and I need to stop and restart it again. It is happening more frequently when first starting it and now worried that if I drive on a motorway I may crash. I have noticed that when it happens the exhaust gas monitor warning light and Over revving warning light comes on.

I have taken it to a Renault dealer and they plugged there diagnostics computer in for 24 hours but found no fault. I told them I'm not convinced and they came back saying it could be the fuel pump.

I took my car to a friend who is a mechanic and he checked the fuel pump and plugged his diagnostics computer in and said he couldn't find any faults.

He said it could be dirty fuel in the engine...

Has anyone experienced this before?

Does it cut off whilst in gear under load? Or say when you put it in neutral to stop at a junction/roundabout etc? As for bad fuel how often is it driven? Do you leave the car long periods without use? If not it won't be off fuel. Will need a bit more info to be able to truely help diagnose what's up. When does it tend to do it when car is warm/cold? any loss in power? Is it runing rough? misfiring? Etc etc. any info is useful

Sounds like same problem I had.

It could be the wiring to the fuel pump. Could also be corrosion where the relays are under the bonnet.

My problem was both of them.

It cuts off when the car is static and when I drive. I started it up today to see if the problem still persists and when I started it the engine it started for about 2 mins and then cut out before coming back on again. Last week I drove it to the gym which is two miles away it happened at traffic lights and in October on the way to N.Wales I was doing around 70-80 mph and it cut out then came back on (Bricked my self) then on the second time I was turning off onto an exit and it cut out when I had to stop and restart the car. It cuts off when doing short and long journeys. Im not having much faith in driving it again incase the engine cuts out and I end up crashing. I havent noticed it misfiring though. As for fuel last month I put £60 of normal unleaded fuel from a Tesco garage and the month before that from a Mace Garage.

I had the relays checked and replaced last month and also a new battery. Thanks for the info about the fuel pump
