Parts diagram needed for Gear linkage

I need to find some parts diagrams if possible of the gear linkage from and including the selector arm all the way the the shifter, Does anyone have any? Part numbers for the parts would be ideal also! Thanks in advance :)

Got this off yanoo a while ago.....

Surely the main wear is actually on the gear linkage rod from gear lever to box? Because it has 2 plastic/rubber bushes either side which wear down which then gives the lever a more of a sloppy feel ?

Thanks for that diagram mate it's ideal :)
no 12 is a common bit to wear
Hi mate any chance you can price up for all the moving/wear parts in the above diagram and also the rod itself to the gearstick and a brand new gearstick assembly? Any chance you can pm me the prices and also screenshot of the parts so I know what the price are for? Thanks :)

Thanks it could be, We have tried eliminating various things and can't seem to make it any better so just going to try a full refresh I think and hope for the best!

look at number 10. I had a williams in a while ago that had popped the ball in the center off it's retention.

it sits inside the boot (number 11) so it's not totally obvious if there's a problem until you look closer

I think you might be onto something actually because last time I was fiddling that did seem to be the location of the play! I will update when I have fiddled next week :)

Item 12 can cause huge play in the whole linkage if it's worn. If in doubt it's suggested to change it (its ref. number: 77 00 872 205 and approx £4 from Renault). As Danny said, Item 10 sometimes also can cause play if its bigger ball is worn or snapped. Only older Renaults use rigid plastic ball (it tends to snap or wear off), the newer ones use a flexible resin ball. Common problem that the bush of this small rod gets worn and results huge lateral play at the gear knob. I have a small metal bush for replacing this one, but my bush cannot be fitted if the long linkage has got a 'built in' pivot.

Thanks for the input Yanoo :) Okay right well I will check those two out when I get the car back and go from there! Sorry I don't understand the part about the built in pivot  lol! Maybe I will when i'm under the car :)

There are (at least) 4 types of long gear linkage end. 3 of them use clevis bar end (with bush and rubber spacer) and one uses pivoted end, like in this pic:

My small metal bush cannot be fitted if this pivoted linkage is in the car.

If this pivot or the bush of the clevis bar is worn, it causes lateral play in the linkage, like in this vid:

Is this (number 12) what causes the squeaking in the gear lever? Mine's squeaking like hell (not clutch, from gearstick area) and it's a little tricky to get it in reverse sometimes.

Yanoo my gear linkage end seems to be made of metal but it insn't a snug fit!

Inspected and taken apart today :)! Most of the play seems to be coming from the selector arm which can still push up even when in gear, this is exaggerated by the relocated position of my gearstick. Does anyone know if this can be reduced or is it supposed to have this play?

Can anyone describe what parts 28,29 ad 30 are in the diagram?

There is play in the bush 12 and also where the bar goes through the selector arm but i'm not sure if it is supposed to or not?!

Assuming all you have altered is a slightly longer section of the rod between the lever and the bend in the rod, and given that there is essentially zero twist in the rod itself on this part, I find it hard to see how that is exaggerating the play so much really.
Any pictures of the mods to the rod itself that might help shed light on why that is altering how it behaves.

I just thought by it being longer then it would cause more of a pivot point on the change ( I am clueless though lol ;)) I will get photo's tonight and post up, also had video's but then my phone decided not to save them!

Thanks :)

I have just got a new linkage bar and the old one has a resin ball and the new one has a softer plastic covering. Got a new no12 bush as well and the slop has gone but the gear shift is a bit stiffer (think its down to the softer plastic vs the harder resin. The new plastic covered one also has plastic covering the linkage conector at the end which makes it so it doesnt fit so i have cut this off so its the raw matal like the origional. Dont know if this is for a later linkage to gearstick rod but dont see why you would have it.

Is this where the 'number 12' goes - in the centre of the pic? Mine's squeaky as hell here! Ordered the bush just in case it is that.

I have taken both these video's with the car in gear, the play really is bad. Half of it seems to be cause by the selector shaft going up and down, Is there any way to stop this? I guess not as it needs to move to select the different gears. There seems to be play in the bush 12 but I don't know if it's a normal amount, Play also in the hole for the selector and the pin but don't know if the pin is worn or the hole in the selector. Looking at the video's what parts should I change? I'm thinking bush 12, and the pin 10. Can I change the spring 23 to try and stop the amount the selector goes up and down?

What are 28, 29 and 30?

Should I also change the actual selector shaft end?

Thanks :)

You beat me to it! Was gonna ask how hard it is to fit cos I can't see how to do it, but then again I won't be fitting it cos I'm a desk dude.

Cheers buddy! My mate will box it off for me, I just like to watch and understand stuff! Yeah I ordered the part off T21ADS here. Let me know how you get on. Does yours squeak it's tits off too? I can see in your video that it's split on the 'number 12' bush, is that why it's goosed?

Haha sounds like the easier option ;)

Same he has sorted me out with lot's of bits recently!

Will do, no not really just loads of play unfortunately. I wouldn't hear it squeak even if it did lol! I can't even hear when a wheel bearing goes in my car ;)

Take out circlip,

pull downwards,

12 will pull apart,

put 12 back on yoke,

push back into gearbox,

refit circlip.

Oh and put a little white grease on ball end before putting 12 on the end.

Attempt to Take out circlip,

swear when the 4 different sizes of circlip pliers you have won't fit

fight with it for 10 minutes until all blood has left your arms and it finally gives in

pull downwards,

12 will pull apart, and probably fall to pieces so you can't see how it should go back together

put 12 back on yoke,

push back into gearbox,

remove and try again the other way up

and again

and again

attempt to refit circlip

push like f**k to make 12 go in far enough

attempt to fit circlip

hit 12 with something

refit circlip

Relise you should have greased inside 12 before fitting, so remove circlip.....
