morning people,

just a quick note congratulating scoff on breaking his P/B time at santa pod yesterday in his turbo'd F7R powered R5GTT..

his best time of the day was a 11.28 @ 124 mph with a personal best 60ft of 1.73

this time means its the quickest 5gtt in the country and i for one am proud for him

i can tell you this car isnt far of 10's now...with the minor fix of a misfire in 3rd he'll be there im sure

as soon as scoff forwards the video link to me ill post it up

there an M&H drag stick mate...25" tall mounted on a wheller race rim....infact there the same wheel as posted in the last picture, only differance being the smaller 13x10 rims

funny, it passed just fine last month Ok, not with those front tyres, and maybe it had the front bumper fitted

the car is 100% road legal, looks oddly. rough in that 1st picture, its actually in pretty good shape.

the tyres are FWD M+H drag tyres, they're about as good as it gets for FWD drag. The rims are my own concoction, they are made from 5" steel rims banded out to 7.5J. The original wheels are the wellers, which are the black ones in the 1st pic, they had a silly offset on them and caused alot of drag - they also prevented me from fitting the front bumper, as you can see.

If anyone cares, the engine is from a clio 172, with 83.5mm crank from a volvo 480 giving it 1800cc and low compression. the 1800cc gives the gearbox a fighting chance, which is only a standard 172 JC5, but still lets me make good HP but at higher RPM ofcourse. Its making around 360hp at 1.6bar boost from a cosworth T34 normally found on a group-A escort and is managed by an Adaptronic ECU mapped by myself.

Aiming for 10's at some point this year, that would make it all worthwhile, but it's all good fun

its actually got good manners on the road, the map is quite nice at low rpms and the cams are standard 172 items so its pretty smooth at all rpm's. I recently did a drive across the welsh back roads with RTOC, did about 200 miles in it round the twisties, great fun!!

172 motor de-stroked to 1.8 with volvo 1.7 crank
vag gearbox (cos renault box's cant cope with that)
t30 turbo (32psi all the way to the redline)
adaptronic ecu and costom map by scoff himself
and lots of stuff he wont tell you
