normally a sign that your headgasket isnt sealing properly.

do you have any overheating problems??
can you notice any loss of power??

If its a 1.2 16v then its normal, although you have more than ive ever had, if the head gaskets gone the dipstick will have mayo on too.

I suspect its because your doing lots of short Journeys now as stated. The enough is not getting up to temperature and thats condensation mixing with the oil and forming on the oil cap.

Wipe off all you can and see how you get on.... Keep an eye on your Temps though as said above can also be a sign of Head gasket.

Usually pish from the pre 53 plate engines.

Go out onto a motorway and give it a blast at 70 for ten minutes or so, should clean it up nicely.

engine only done 39,000 and not driven hard so i doubt its head gasket. the car never reaches half way mark on temp gauge when i going to and from work so im guessin its that. never over heats. no loss of power. drives fine all that. i have heard sumat about 1.2's doin it but never known why.

the 8 v is the more common one for this as it has a taller filler at the top, but as already said its also a sign of short journeys, so dont be too worried about it, mine is alot worse

urs does the same does it hutch? how bad?

constantly a few mm on cap

i cleaned it before i went on holiday, drove for 4 hours and when i took cap off it was fine so that made me decide it was condensation usually day to day

Ive had a bit of this before, I do short journeys. But wiped it off and did only long journeys for a while to see, I didnt get it.

Doing an oil change in the next few days as well.

Ive brought 5w40 fully synthetic. £34.99 for 5L in halfords.

Could have got 10w40 semi synthetic for £21.99 but thought id treat the car lol.

Would have changed the oil today but halfords didnt have my filter in stock, So will have to order it from Renault tomorro.

i have this same problem mate. do about 4 very short journeys a day which is the reason. Saying that, my oil filler cap is broken and doesnt screw on well, so i think i may have to get another one from renault some time.

every monday i do a long journey to college but i guess once it has built up inside the cap, just doing a long journey prob wont clear the sludge.
