172 vs 172 Cup



I'm looking to build a track car to compete in SLS next year and I am not sure if buying a 172 Cup is worth the extra money. The car will be getting all interior and heaters stripped out, poly windows, cage etc. It will also be getting coilovers. Am I right in thinking that the only thing left on the car that is different between a 172 Cup and a normal 172 would be the lack of ABS and TC?

Driveshafts are different lengths on the cup are they not, so must be a difference elsewhere for the wider track?
They have more castor due to the balljoint position on the front wishbone but these can be fitted to a non cup car anyway.
Rear has -2deg camber, again can be done on any car with camber shims

Apparently the lower suspension arm interface on the Cup's subframe is further outboard in comparison to a standard 172. As a result the distance from hub to gearbox is greater which requires the driveshafts to be longer.

@midge has measured subframes and says that there isn't a difference

Get on ebay and you'll probably find a 1/2 dozen other ex-CS Clios that have had most this done already, they pass through here on an almost bi-monthly basis.
You might need to pull out some carpet, or remove some "tasteful" mods for someones ex road/track 'weapon', but better that than destroying an un-modified example

Cup had 5mm thicker rear stub axle bases/mounting flange aswell "apparently"

Is that where it gets the camber from of is that a cup spec rear beam?
 
I have noticed differences in stub axles but as far as i know thats just another phase difference not cup difference.
