Best person to supply me with a refurbed 'box with Gripper fitted?



  172 Cup
Anyone out there that can supply me with a refurbished gearbox with a Gripper fitted and ready to install into a 172 Cup? Assume retention of std CWP unless there's a strong recommendation for something different?

Don't have the facilities to remove myself and leave whilst my 'box being done, hence easier to get the whole thing supplied and ready for my mechanic to swap over in one stint.

Could you give me an idea of price wise for a FULL rebuild i.e synchro's bearings and doing the bolted diff mod on a 172 box please... PM me if you rather

Northloop i've kept in mind for when I have any gearbox issues :)
Civic I always take to Grinspeed though but he'll probs cost more

To replace all the synchros and bearings you're looking at over 1k in parts mate. Cheaper to buy a box from Renault for £900!

Cheers mate, was just kind of a worst case senario as i was thinking to buy a wnd hand box and get that rebuilt to swap straight over so the car wasnt off the road.. cheers for the honesty

I've got a brand new built box I 'might' part with not even been fitted since built. 172 cup jc5 with new gripper LSD, gripper low ratio final drive cw/p, shorter megane 5th gear. Had any remedial work carried out while stripped, synchros, selector forks, bearings and seals + new 5th gear cover and seal.

Every one will be different I would imagine. As @NorthloopCup say's, he strips and replaces what's needed. That will depend on the gearbox being supplied.

I can fully appreciate that, more interested in the cost of the diff and shorter 5th gear to be honest, at least I've got a starting point for costs then, not that I'm overly worried, it costs what it costs at the end of the day
 
I'd love to get a diff but with the cost of purchasing the diff, having the box rebuilt and diff fitted, and delivery costs of the box to and from the fitter, not to mention having the box taken out and refitted you wouldn't have much change from £2k...

Needs must for me, I've been budgeting around the 2k mark in my head, I'm lucky in that I'm an ex mechanic so whilst I don't have a ramp I do all my own work, which will save some of the labour costs (and hopefully cover the costs of a lightened flywheel and new clutch at the same time)

I think I'm just gonna sell mine and buy another Clio already built with diff, cams, bodies/SM intake, ASTs etc. Won't be until next year now though.
