    DCI power delivery problem

Recently the car has been hesitating to accelerate a little when I accelerate.

For example the other day I put my foot to the floor in 2nd and there was NO power for around 2-3 seconds (around 2000rpm) before it starting pulling.

Last night driving home from work it was accelerating very uneven. Put my foot down there was a bit of power, then none and then a bit more then none etc.

    Any ideas anyone?

I cleaned the EGR on the Mundaneo - took away all the hesitancy (and clouds of black smoke).

I have the exact same problem on the dci, i cleaned the egr valve and it was fine for a day or so then it happened again!

So i unplugged the egr valve and it drove fine. ordered a new one though as i don't like the idea of it not being plugged in.

Cheers thought it would be the egr. Getting it looked at today.

Anyone know anything about blanking plates? Someone told me they improve performance slightly ?

Yep, egr valve was full of gunk so it's been cleaned and it's now running fine.

However one of the glow plugs came up on the diagnostics as well and it needs replaced but it's stuck in place and the guy doesn't want to force it out in case it snaps and gets left in there. Put some wd40 on it to sink in though and fingers crossed that will loosen it.

Glow plugs only aid during start up dude so not a major problem .

Use some fuel additive cleaner, for good measure should keep you're injectors in better health and stop them getting gunked up (like mine did) i used one called Diesel DTOX i think was a big help

Says it increases performance, does it?

Only putting it in to clean the crap out and keep engine healthy

    Re: DCI power delivery problem

I should imagine it aids you're power, because of gunky injectors etc. but i've used most my tank of fuel and not noticed any difference.

In my limited experience in diesel engines of nearly two years as an apprentice, It won't make any difference. Good for the health of you're expensive fuel system though

    OIL BURNER

    Re: DCI power delivery problem

its more of a diesel engine cleaning agent, the supposed ' extra power ' comes from the added cetane ( diesel version of similar octane for petty engines )

forgot to post and ask in here, did you find any oil'y deposits on the EGR valve contained within the gunk ?

oil found there can indicate early signs of turbo oil seals going.

Such an easy job dude, not worth going to the garage if you ever need to do it again. 10 mm socket and extension plus an 8 mm socket are all you need
