This Pic - Help/tips needed

Im happy with how sharp the car is in the picture,
the dissapointment for me is the background, how out of focus the tree/bushes are.
I had the camera on Auto focus so naturaly as I wanted it too, it focused on the car.
anyway to get the background pin sharp aswell as the car when I'm next taking a picture?

Why do you want the background sharp?
That's the last thing you want. The more out of focus the background is, the more your sticks out.
Your focus on the car looks a little out too TBH.

Tripod, higher F-Stop mate.
Although I agree with Dan.

Look at this as an example..

Look how much the car stands out. It's almost jumping from the picture. You're not sidetracked by the surroundings. That's the aim with a photo (most of the time) whereas if this shot was taken at f54 or something stupid then the car wouldn't stand out and it wouldn't be anywhere near as good.

Re: This Pic - Help/tips needed
In the original picture it almost looks like the background blur has been caused by camera movement rather than a lower aperture really.
Using a tripod or even upping the ISO would help mate.

Re: This Pic - Help/tips needed
The original image looks very odd. There is a sharp spot, but it is a small circle around the front right wheel/headlight. But the background doesnt look out of focus (from a shallow DOF being used) it looks more like motion blur (top right tree). It could also be a symptomn of a cheap or damaged lens as this blurred area looks to run around the outside of the image.
Were you using any filters on the lens or have you applied/changed anything in photoshop?
What setup was it, camera, lens, tripod and settings used. (i dont have an exif viewer at work)
If this blur is a symptomn of lens distortion then as suggested above, a higher aperture number might solve this.

I'm also very confused by it. Look at the stones at the side of the road on the left. There's definately some motion blur going on.
What camera are you using atm Ryan?

I had a UV filter, in PS I changed the white balance (shoot in RAW) and auto sharpend the picture.
Camera is a Canon Eos 1000D
Used a Tri-pod and also had a 2second timer.
Lens was a kit lens 18-55mm
hope that helps!
