Best heavy cutting compound/pad combo
It's a while since I updated my product range or even logged into my dw account so thought I might get some help here first.
Im in desperate need of getting my 182 paint corrected before fcs, the car has very heavy swirling on each panel, what compound and pad combo would you recommend?
In the past I've been using menzerna , not sure the code of it though, with a yellow 3m pad. I'm thinking the Clio might need something harsher as its one of the worst I've seen. Any help would be great

Re: Best heavy cutting compound/pad combo
Have you attacked it with what you've already got ?! Give it a go, you might be surprised.. couple of hits, and a bit of filling from black hole/amigo and you might be there.
If it's really bad, step up to the green 3M pad perhaps ?
I'm sure there'll be some experts along soon to tell you that's all a load of rubbish anyway...

Re: Best heavy cutting compound/pad combo
Hi mate cheers for the reply, I dnt want to fill the swirls as such as they'll just re-appear after a few washes. I want to permanently remove them.
Truth be told I've ran out of menzerna that's why I'm looking to get something else

Re: Best heavy cutting compound/pad combo
Fair enough !
Well I used an old slightly knackered polishing pad (white Sonus or Menz, I can't remember) with some of this 3M stuff and got rather impressive results, doing everything wrong/fast/billybufferspecial on the OH's old PoS Polo she was selling..

to the following in one hit..:

Far from perfect but 100x better !
If you like the 3M pads, stick with them, stuff a green in the bag if you feel you need to and maybe a blue to finish.. bottle of Amigo Prima and you're away !

You won't need a heavy compound. 3M yellow tops with yellow pad will suffice on Renault paint.

What sort of speed mate? I've used green top with a yellow pad before which seemed to be spot on, where as the yellow on yellow didnt seem to cut too much

Rotary? Or Da? Rotary was always 1500 as the top figure. Usually 600-800 below that. Che k out the zenith technique. Always worked well for me with both finishing and more heavy cutting work.
Da is usually the same but with spread on 2, work in on 4 and cut on 6 ( then back down).
