H&R Coilovers - Fitment & Height Setup
So these arrived on Monday morning, so we're going to have a crack at fitting them on Friday evening.
Actually fitting them shouldnt be too much of a concern, but im quite interested to hear people's thoughts on height, etc.
My current plan to to drop the the car about 10mm further down than the current Sachs/Sportlines setup (using the current arch to hub measurements):

Sounds like i need to fit the rears first, then move forwards to the passenger front, then drivers front - with that set 7mm higher than the pass. side to counter the additional weight of the engine. I'll also be swopping my existing camber bolts onto the coilovers and dialing in approx. -2mm negative using the tried & tested iPhone spirit level.
Handling wise, my preference is for a twitchy rear end on the limit (oo er), hence my use of a Whiteline ARB as well, set to Medium. The car needs to keep a decent level of suspension travel for A/B road blasts, hence the lack of 'slam it into deh weedz'.
Any further thoughts/suggestions from the setup gurus?

Dave, do you consider the H&R's a better setup over the Sachs/Sportlines setup?
Alot of people turn their nose up at this do they not?

Not sure how they compare yet, i couldnt get my Sachs refurbed at a sensible price in time for Llandow, so i bought the H&R's instead ...
At the end of the day though, up until about 2009, when everyone on CS became an expert in suspension and needed full adjustment of every variable via the likes of AST/KW V2/Spax etc, the H&R's were used by prety much all of the 'in crew' and highly recommended by all the well known traders. The suspension is still the same, its just the requirements of 99% of CS users has changed, hence they are bought less.
I prefer a more comfortable, well damped ride for fast road use, which hopefully this will provide. People forget that even on track, bodyroll isnt a bad thing!!

Trouble with CS is people see afew "in people" pass comment and they all jump on the bandwaggon.
I cant see how H&R's arent just as good, if not better than the OEM set up, especially for fast road/track use.

Re: H&R Coilovers - Fitment & Height Setup
-2mm camber? Don't you mean -2degrees?
Also I really wouldn't worry too much about setting the height - I set my billies up how I wanted them and a week later they'd settled a further 10mm.
Get them somewhere near and drive it for a while then set the height.
Why not get it corner weighted instead of just aiming for a height all round?

Re: H&R Coilovers - Fitment & Height Setup
I have the back of mine right down, and the front is about halfway up the strut, Its low but not as low as some and Itl allow me a good hoon around the countryside without scrubbing, that is unless it goes over a humped bridge too fast
Its got a slight nose down stance, toes neutral with 1.5 deg neg camber

I'm sure there'll be some in the workshop anyway, but i'll bring some digital verniers down to sort the height.

Have a read of my thread Dave. My latest update specifically. Had my bilsteins corner weighted and camber and toe adjusted. I've put the specific details are in my latest update.
I know every car will probably be different but just a guide for you

Re: H&R Coilovers - Fitment & Height Setup
Id suggest lowering it to the same level as the trophy setup for now as when it settles it will then be circa your 10mm lowering amount you wanted.

How much did you spend on non-adjustable coilovers Dave? Your mad!
