FAO MOD- any good to use as a sticky?
Hi all,
Time after time i see new threads asking how to stop the dash light coming on when changing the steering wheel to an after market one. Or even just asking hat the correct resistors are to use.
It is very simple, all you need is:
2x (thats two) 3.9 ohm resistors. They look like this

The code for these are: M3R9 = 3.9 ohm and you can get them from Maplins (the electric store) they cost around 28p each. REMEMBER you need 2 of them as the steering wheel has 2 airbag conectors.
When conecting them to the airbag conector block double up the end of the resistor. Simply fold the end over, this is to ensure a good conection is achieved as the wire is very thin. I think i actually may have trippled the end of mine.

P.S. im sure you can use between 3.2ohm to 5.2 ohm or something like that but i am advising you to use 3.9ohm, its in the middle of the range and i can gaurantee you they work. They are what i used and 2 years on the dash lights are still never to be seen.
Hopefully this will help you guys and also reduce unecesary threads.
Thanks
Austin

Re: **** PLEASE READ - Aftermarket Wheel Airbag Resistor Info ****
Sorry to ask, but my supplier has the following resistors with 3,9 Ohm:
11 Watt 3,9 Ohm
5 Watt 3,9 Ohm
0.25 Watt 3,9 Ohm
Which one should I get? Guys at an Alfa forum are talking about 0,5 Watt. Link: Alfa Link
How specific do you have to get the resistors?
Thanks

Thanks. But I was more looking for an answer concering how many Watts they should be. I think I found an answer: 0,6 watts.

Went to Maplins yesterday in Coventry and they stated they no longer supply these. Has anyone got any spare or can point me in the right direction to get some i also need 4x 3.3 ohm resistors for the seat plugs. Turning into a real mission trying to get this sorted.

So is the wattage not important? The site I found will be ok then. I'll get them ordered.

Re: **** PLEASE READ - Aftermarket Wheel Airbag Resistor Info ****
the wattage isn't important, the resistace is.
the wattage only tells you what current it can handle (higher= more current)
can the same resistor be used for the seat bags?

Re: **** PLEASE READ - Aftermarket Wheel Airbag Resistor Info ****
3.3 or 3.5 for seats and 3.9 for steering wheel. Not sure if one is needed for the passenger side I don't think it is.
