    Speaker ISO wiring

I am trying to install my new comps but dont want to cut and slice up the oem connectors between the door and car.

Black lines are the new ones and red are the old ones that go through to the doors.

So which of the iso connectors at the back of the HU holds all the wires for the speakers? Is it easy to get hold of another one so i can splice into it and connect the new wires powered from the amp?

amp not speakers, they dont provide the power, and its a waste of time fitting your 16awg with the original being less, only as good as its worst point

I want to do the same, planning on using a 4x50W rms amp (in combination with the alpine audessey setup)
so 50w to the tweeters en 50W to the door

    This is the amp

I was possibly considering on running new wires from the HU to the connector on the door, rather than cut the wires on the connection i was going to find the speaker connections, pull them out and replace with new wires and connecters.

Dont know if it is possible?

I have 16awg to run to the tweeters as it has a 16awg wires soldered on to it.

When I installed components. I ran new wiring through to the doors, through the connector at the door.
    Was a lot of work.
You can get ISO female to male harnesses from the likes of halfords/ebay, which you could just cut save cutting your loom.

New wires would be better for many reasons, there is only 2 guides on here on how to do it.
One is cutting all the wires to drill a hole in the central part and the other is to drill a hole through the tubing pipe brackets.
All look a little complicated to me.

    How did you do yours?

    Re: Speaker ISO wiring

Basically, the rubber boot that the wires for the door go through,
Undo the screw and pull the plastic bit up/down to unlock it then pull it off.
Then I found two holes in the connector that were free, and used a small allen key bit to work the holes big enough to pull speaker wire through,
then used a wire hanger to pull the wires through the rubber boot.

    No wires visible at all.
Only photo I have is this, which is next to useless! This was before I pulled all the wires through.
Once reconnected all wires are completely hidden going through the connector from car>door and rubber boot thing.

its more useful than you think.

Thanks, I shall attempt that at the weekend if the weather is good.

Its better than cutting the wires or drilling a hole in the door.

    14/16awg here it comes.

    Cheers

    Re: Speaker ISO wiring

Be easier with a little drill bit too.
Just undo the screw and pull the connector out, then identify the holes that are spare with no pins in, and I used an allen key and wiggled it to make the hole bigger, then managed to pull the wire though. One wire goes through one hole, the other wire goes through the other, so split the speaker wire.

Just be careful not to damage any of the nearby holes/pins. Just takes a lot of patience, and fiddling!

My R26 was wired in this exact fashion. Was running running 2 channels of a PDX4.150 150wrms into Boston Pro splits without any issues.

I didnt see this before attempting it.

On the plug inside the car, i drilled a hole through the side of the plug for the wire to go through, then found the blank ones on the yellow (door) plug and drilled a hole small enough to get the cable through.

What I could not understand is, on the door plug, there is 5 big pins that connect with a female connector on the yellow plug.
Yet there is 5 small pins on the grey an only 4 small on the yellow, ill post pics soon.

As said before, people wanting to get it through the rubber boot, you will need a strong wire like the ones from the old clothes hangers.
Thing is you'll be lucky to find one now days, I had to buy a £15 roll, so anyone wanting 2mtrs send me £2 and I will post it to you.

    Re: Speaker ISO wiring

In the yellow box's, how come there are 2 pins but they are not in use? What are them pins actually for? Or can they just be removed and used as speaker holes?
