as far as cost is concerned you live and you learn, if you do it for £700 it would be great, but the fact is you should really budget 2k even if your doing the work yourself.

One way i looked at it was if i was to spend £1k on n/a upgrades i could get a realistic figure of 195bhp? if i was to spend £1k on a LBT i think a realistic figure would be 215ish?

for under 1k i could fit a c20let with a standard 200hp. few mods would see 260 +

Once you start it will surprise you how much the bits and pieces you need add up to.
The intercooler and exhaust pipework will be all custom so this will come to around £500 on their own so £700 and you will be doing very well.

ye, the only problem i could see was a gear linkage but i think iv got that sorted

i mentioned earlier in the post
... my mate is a pipe welder/fabricator.. Hes willing to help me with the dowpipe and intercooler pipes so all il need to pay for is the pipework which he gets a trade prices through his work. He previously made an exhaust for one of my old 106's.

na no gearbox. i might sell the 172 engine. shouldnt really be a big job to get mounted in

I would be pretty happy with 210-220bhp on a Low boost conversion...i would be DELIGHTED with 300bhp from a megane hybrid job lol
