Hopefully the charger gets sorted out for you.
Congrats on the mag feature though![]()

how you getting on with the charger mate?
is this just really bad luck or are the seals a weak spot if yours is the 3rd to go (as reading above) im still very much between a charger or a MWM / Chip style turbo. either way just wish list at the moment
Keep ya chin up mate, like you said its all part of modding a car. Car looks outstanding though I must say.
I still get inspired by reading this from the start again and again. Just wish I could start my project off but don't see it anytime soon unfortunately. Just doing few little bits here and there at moment
We need an update in here tbh
Will it be sorted for CSS?
Looks like rotrex will be changing the seals on new production chargers at some point
http://www.rotrex.com/Home/Technolog...nt_Update.aspx no effecting the c30 atm but maybe soon
the main part being
'Nevertheless it is always best to position the supercharger above the canister and oil cooler to avoid any risk of leakage in case of wear or damage to the high speed spindle seal.'
so is the canister above the charger on these installs?
Although it does state in the install guide 'Place the oil canister with the cap below or level with the supercharger’s shaft. Use the bracket supplied in the oil set. Make sure the canister is placed upright. Leave the plastic plugs in place to prevent debris from entering the system'
FFS, it sits right at the bottom on the Clio.
Looks like that's not for the new seals and recommended on old ones. Going to have to rejig all mine by looks of things![]()
So how low does the charger sit? From the pics ive seen it seems low. Is it possiblee to get both the cooler and canister actually lower? Surely the coolers are already low as reasonabley possible
I could get my cooler inline, I need to rearrange a few bits anyway
You can see where the first blue hose goes to the cooler on my old one, it's basically same place now.
It would be impossible to move the canister anywhere though?!
By luck, I had the cooler below the charger but god knows where you'd put the canister low enough :/
so could be a cause of the premature failure on the seals, maybe with the canister above the SC you are causing some additonal presure and causing the blow.
From reading stuff on hondas and beemers, they are running these c30 chargers for 50 to 70k miles with no issue...
so does seam strange that on the clios they are failing....
Although also if they are failing on the rollers maybe they are not getting good enough air flow to keep them cool....
Whats the operational temp on the oil and is anyone monitoring this to make sure the cooling is sufficiant ?
Strange to see the failures as the 306 boys have been running them fine for 4+ years and the only failure so far was due to a pinched oil feed pipe.my install is still going strong after 25k and 3 years
Cracking build! Always expect setback's when doing this kind of thing, the way it goes pal!
Anyone have a temp sensor running in the SC oil ?
Just wondering, since they are passive cooled how do they hold up when sat idling ?? Or for example you get stuck in a jam on the m25 for a few hours..
Would it not be possible to fit the oil cooler where Bomber has put his, then mount the oil tank in the wheel arch where the original carbon canister was.
By mounting it low with a hole cut so the fill was sticking into the engine bay it would keep the tank level with the charger, give air flow to cool the oil.
Epic build, shame about the charger and I look forward to seeing it running.
dont think many/any used oil temp sensor in the SC fluid.
Neil, thats actually a pretty good idea, so long as it was still being run with arch liners as they are quite delicate as a whole. Although it would still need easy access as they need checking regularly
apparently its just being ran in as we speak, just needs a few more miles on it then it can go for its propper mapits got a base map on atm according to one of craigs mates, which will be 200+
Glad to hear its up and running.
