Old Black Bumper Trim - Spraying New Life Into It

I have bumper trim that has faded into a dull grey colour, and I want to spray it so it looks clean and fresh.

It has the dreaded pimple feel to the material. So a quick question, if I sprayed it over in black, would this be ok, or would it need to go through the works of sanding, prepping etc.

I am not bothered about it coming up smooth, but I want the finish to be good.

    Thanks.

Dont need to bother spraying it if it is plastic?

If its plastic clean it back properly with some smooth peanut butter then use some trim restorer on it.

    Or use WD40

Yes smooth peanut butter contains oils that break down any polish residue on the plastic.

Groundnut oil is actually what you should use but peanut butter contains this and is cheaper.

Then use some bumper care stuff and it will look as good as new.

If you spray it, IMO you need to prep it really really well to remove all the pimples, as it looks so sh*te if there left in and painted over the top. In the sun they just look GASH!

    1. Prep so is smooth as a babies arse + some.
    2. "Show it " a decent plastic primer..... (Show it, as in not coat it as its very thin and will run, just a very light coating)
    3. Normal primer it
    4. Light wet stand with 1500, being esp careful on the edges.
    5. Base code (multiple coats until ur happy, leaving 15 mins between)
    6. Dry over night.
    7. Clear coat.
    8. Flat if needed, and polish.

Or if in doubt, pop it off........post it and ill do it. For a fee of course (I do tons of stuff at the moment, got the full setup for it.)
